it seems inevitable, the older my dog gets the closer he gets to passing away, i've often found myself thinking about the day and what it'll be like to lose my best friend, but the more i think about it the harder it becomes to look at him and not shed a tear, for now though i will just enjoy the precious moments shared with him...

Hello Amarili and welcome to myLot! I know how it feels to see your best friend becoming old. It is so hearbreaking! And when he starts to feel pain in his joints it will be even more painful to see him suffering. Enjoy every moment with him now, that he is healty. Don't think about the moment when he will have to go. You will have enough time to cry when he is gone. How old is he?

ooohh, thats so touching, as you can see most people would agree that you just have to enjoy the time you have with him, and even when hes gone he'll still be with you, photos and memories will help that...

Hi amarili! Just like everything in life we live, enjoy life and then we pass. Please continue to enjoy the days you do have your dog with you and do not think about the last moments. When the time comes it will be sad but you will remember your dog in your heart.

After this dog will not just be you will remember the beautiful moments spent together, you look at the pictures and this will help pass more easily over the loss. I do not know how well it's another to take your dog for you will always compare with each other.

Just like human beings, animals have their life span also. In order to mitigate that sad event of finally losing your dog, you might as well get yourself a puppy to take care of, so that by the time you old dog will die, you have another one that could replace his place in your heart.
