32 Democrat and 32 Republican Senators have penned a letter to Obama asking for him to focus on tax and entitlement reform. http://thehill.com/blogs/on-the-money/budget/150671-sixty-senators-call-on-obama-to-broaden-budget-talks While they will never agree completely on what to cut and how much, at least they are talking about it. What do you think?

I have seen glimmers of the democrats trying to do the right thing. You know, the ususal sound byte thats designed to make them human. And republicans are realizing its time to get real as well, for the same reasons. But there are huge egos involved and I don't believe they will ever get it together in time.

It's a start, albeit late. Am I hopeful? Not really, we can't even get agreement on the 2011 budget that should have been done before September 30 last year, when everything was in the Ds hands! I am pleased to see both D senators from NM have signed up (we didn't get to vote on a senator in November, and one, Bingaman isn't running in 2012. After 30 years, he's decided it's time to retire. So maybe he'll actually make some hard decisions for the good of the country. But Udall will run again in 2014. I'm not confident at all that he'll make any hard decisions. Don't want to jeopardize re-election do you?) I do hope they can at least agree that we don't need a National Cowboy Poetry convention in Nevada. And the President? Since his 2012 budget proposal increased spending by another $1.4B, I have no confidence.

Yeah I think it is time for the Federal Government to stop funding festivals in particular states. I agree too that with the President, there is no confidence.
