why is this even an issue? A bill proposed by two House Democrats would make it illegal for insider trading for U.S. lawmakers, their staffers and executive-branch employees. Are you kidding me? This was proposed in 2006 but shot down. It is being brought up again. If you ever needed proof of corruption, why are they allowed to trade with insider knowledge? They are the ones making the laws! http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703512404576209174028691768.html?mod=rss_Politics_And_Policy

Time to write my new R Congressman. But he was a Congressman in 2006 (then he ran for the U.S. Senate and lost in 2008. Then he ran again in 2010 as a Rep and won, again). I wonder which way he voted in 2006? I would hope the Rs really learned a lesson, when they lost the House and the Senate in 2008... It'll be interesting to see how it goes down.

I know there have been bills proposed to take away the congressional exemption. I would like to see it and we all call them on it. Soon I will do a little research and see if there is one out there.

I started working on my mom's book and didn't write my congressman. I still need to do that...

It's pretty telling that you have to pass a law to make them obey the same laws everyone else has to obey...and that they didn't want that law passed. No one should be above the law.

How novel of an idea. Pass a law to make them obey the law. Wow, and how did they come up with that idea, such smart men and women lead us, I am in awe.

but they still vote it down. Giving them the ability to exempt themselves from the very laws they write is a HUGE mistake.

Hiya laglen, Have understood all of that because that happens here as well but they always try and sidestep that very fact. It is quite amusing the excuses that they come up with. Can´t think of any right now but those who said that the Politicians should be more austere in their spending and money affairs have just had six hundered thousand Euros added to their daily diet expenses to help them out when they have to fly with People of higher ranks how do you like that one. What they have not said if it is shared between them this money or if it´s for each of them. They always miss the best bits out don´t they eh? What they don´t want us to know aha.xxx
