My 2 years old pom had his castration operation last week and had bad pain last week. And when we checked for his weight, he had almost last 2-3 kgs. He doesnot eat well due to the pain. Mom started to give him Complan, health drink and he likes it very much. But it keeps bothering me, if its good for dogs to drink? Any suggestions friends? Bit concerned about his diet now..

I don't know if it will do good to your dog but it won't hurt for sure.I used to give horlicks to my dog when he was young. But they say the one with chocolate flavour should be avoided.

From my experience I don't think sugar is going to do any harm to dogs.I give a glass of milk with sugar to my dog everyday. Most of the people say that milk can harm your dog but my dog has been drinking milk for like 10 years. Also, from the way he drinks milk i figured that he enjoys it with sugar much more than he does without sugar.

Yes ravi, i have heard people feeding horlicks and complan as a nourishment, but both have sugar content which may not be good to dogs. Better is to go with dogs supplements so we dont have to worry about the problems to our pet. One biggest problem is my doggie loves to eat what we eat..rather than his food. So got to be strict on that for the sake of his good health. Thank you

True, my dog is 1.5 years old, he still loves milk with little sugar added to it. He takes milk more than his own food. He is healthy so far, except for the operation, he lost weight. But I believe its true sugar milk is not gonna harm as i heard from petowners so far. Thanks for mentioning that! whats your dog variety like? Mine is Samoyed!

well i don't think in general human food is the best for animals. Its probably best to ask a vet. Also some pet stores have very knowledgable employees that may be able to give you some tips.

my dog was really sick once and i didn't know what to feed him so I bought chicken noodle soup. It was 2am and only 7 eleven was open. He actually keep it down whereas he couldn't keep anything else down.
I'm not sure whats in that particular drink you said so I can't really comment on it. If its all natural and doesn't have artificial sugar or sugar its probably fine.
Good luck
I hope your doggie feels better

But the drink i mentioned has lots of sugar content, thats why am concerned about. Surely will stop mom by today. So too much of sugar content will make dog worse rite? Will take him vet tommorrow. Will keep you updated!!

There are several nutritional dog drink available on the market that can help with weight gain. I don't believe the human one's will help with that because dogs require a different form of nutritional value. It probably is best if you go to a pet store and ask which ones would be best.
Hope your dog gets better.

You are right! The drink is for kids growth, i dont think it will help my dog anyway. Planning to take him to vet tommorrow and get a one which is meant for him.
Thanks and will do keep you posted!
