How do you keep your password?

Nowadays, I register to so many sites but I do not write my password on a notebook or type it on my pc because of security reason.Only those that retained to my mind are the ones that are left. Thanks for my email because I can check my password on it by checking my registration validation. But what I want is to organize to my passwords because sometimes I forget it and that is my biggest problem I couldn't enter to the site . Could you suggest me a password keeper (pc application) that is reliable and safe.

Perhaps a good idea is to put all updated password in a file such as a *.txt Then, to maintain security, one can use a file encryption application using one password-for-life ... What do you think ?
