I just got my first hummingbird feeder as I noticed I had some of these lovely guys in my yard last summer. I have heard you can make your own nectar easily to put in...anyone ever try this? Any other tips about them? I'd love to attract more of these beautiful birds to my yard!

Make sure you do your research before you go making your own. Many people try something with too high a sugar content which can actually kill the birds.

Yikes, good to know! Thanks for the info, I will try to find a solid recipe if I do my own.

I put out a hummingbird at my back yard on the my peach tree but no hummingbirds came at all. I have seen them in my back yard the year before but they just didn't show up last year, I was very disappointed. I might try it again this year and see what happens.

Awww good luck with them this year, they are so fun to watch! I think my cats would enjoy it too, to stare at them out the window! heheh :)
