Too much of everything is not good

Many said that too much of everything is not good. Too much money may cause trouble to the owner. Too much work causes health problems. Too much playing causes a dull person. With this in mind, would you also consider too much faith and love for God to be also bad?

A balanced person can handle an abundance. So I think it all depends on the person. A balanced person will know how to shut off the water so that his bath doesn't overflow and cause damage. If a person has a lot of money, they can give to the needy. Too much work can be shared with someone who needs a job. This discussion reminds me of a "secret" that needs to be learned. Philippians 4:11-12 (New International Version, ©2011) "11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want." Just like God is always balanced, so we need to learn to be always balanced and reasonable.

It is really hard to balance everything. Some who have more wants to have more. While others who have less, even though they want to have more, will have less.

Thank you for the BR award! I guess that's why the Bible says that knowing how to deal with every situation, scarcity and abundance, and remain balanced is a secret. Not everyone knows about it, even though it is written in the world's best seller.

If you lie down in bed, and you say "I have faith that God will bring me food", and then you die of starvation, is that too much?

I loved having one dog and then I got a second dog. So I think having two dogs is double the pleasure. However if I was given 1000 dogs then that would be way too many to handle. I have two hands and that is enough to take two dogs out for a walk. If a person works 30 hours a week then double these hours would be lots too many for him or her to manage to do. If a teenager do x boxing all day every day it might get boring for him. Too much of it will make his eyes sore and his fingers ache. There is a happy medium concerning things in life I think. If the person has worked hard to get something he or she will appreciate the something more than a really wealthy person that has loads of money.

to have much faith and love for God is not bad. it is how people interpret this love. some people tend to overdo it, and some even become fanatics than religious or godly.

I agree with you that having much love and much faith is not bad. The problem will arise if this love and faith will turn to be very extreme that may lead us to think that other people (or other religions and faith) is not Godly.

Of course, too much faith makes people blind to other peoples belief and leads to extremism and fanatism. Makes people too sure of things and leads inevitably to war towards other people who are too sure of different things.

We must learn to delineate what is good and what is bad in our lives and learn to have a more balanced life. Too little is not enough and too much is way over. So meeting somewhere in the middle would best.

I believe this to be true, it is when things are hard to get that we appreciate them more, when there is a bit of a challenge then we really apprecaite them.
