I know this seems weird and kind of random, but has anyone noticed that your fingernails seem to grow a lot during swimming. Anyone know why, or is this just my imagination...

Where do you swim? If it is in the ocean, then I could imagine that the minerals of the water make your nails grow faster. If it is just chlorine pool water I am at a loss.-

Do you mean instantaneously or over time? If you mean instantaneously, as in you hop in the pool do a few laps and then hop out again and notice your fingernails are longer... then I think it's just your imagination. Could be that when your skin prunes over after swimming, it shrinks back a bit and you look at your fingernails and they appear longer. If you mean over time, then I'm not sure. I've never heard that before. Could have more to do with a changed lifestyle of being active than with swimming itself.

I have not swum across an Ocean recently -- and not before, as far as I remember --, just across a big pool, so I do not stay enough in water to see them growing during swimming, but maybe is it a lack of imagination ?
