What is the most dangerous sport?

Most people would guess foodball or hockey but stitistically those are not even close to the #1. It's noodeling or redkneck fishing as it's sometimes called. In this sport people wade along in murky water sticking their hands into holes hoping they can get a fish to bite them so they can pull it out. This goes beyond bravery to insanity. You could be putting your hand into a crockadile or snapping turtles mouth for all you know. Lots of people have lost fingers or hands & some have even been dragged down to their deaths. I've caught fish with my hands before but I made sure I could at least SEE what I was grabbing. This is just nuts, would you ever try it?

It is the first time I heard about this fishing. We have not very dangerous species in my area -- some colonies of turtle coming from Florida, and pikes -- but I would not try this. I feel more comfortable with a hand line. Some people like to put their life in danger. I know someone who has a pack of hounds and hunts wild boars with only his dogs and a knife : he has been hurt many times, but he continues...

A pike could probably do quite a bit of damage too. They've got some nasty teeth on them. I might consider boar hunting with a spear that way I'd at least have the advantage of reach & leverage. A knife would just be too risky even for my taste.

A spear can poke down from up in a tree. Bad, bad boar...

I would not even risk this. This man told me that he had once the abdomen opened with bowels outside : with a spear or a knife you have not to miss a boar or it will not miss you. My worst encounter in a wood was a mother with 2 or three little boars : we ran in opposite directions.

Well, I was gonna say UFC or boxing, but damn. Redneck fishing?(They really need a better name for it though. If they want people to take it seriously.) That sounds pretty extreme lol. I guess it`s the thrill? Not knowing what you`re going to get? Do they have a tv show on it? I`d love to watch. I like hearing about underground sports like that. Make sure to count all your fingers after catching something lol.

I haven't actually seen a show dedicated to it but I have seen it on shows that usually poke fun at rednecks like My Big Redneck Wedding. Plenty of things for them to pick on there.

I though there is some other sports which is more dangerous but after read your discussion i can say this is the most dangerous sports. I do love to catch fish. But not by hand i do use some other stuff which give me safety and i will not try to catch fish where is crocodile available. Because my life is very important for me. Good luck!

There's just something wrong with the concept of using yourself as bait.

OMG! I'll never do a "sport" like this one! I already don't like to be in the water, if I have to put my hands in holes too... :S

You know there's usually one type of movie where people put their hands in dark holes commonly, Horrors. That should be an indication as to how foolish this is.

yes, only irresponsible people can do this. Then we listen at the news about accidents accourred to these people.

I would not try something like that. If I was hungry enough to be killing fresh game I would use a stick or put bait on a string to see what was in there. I know catching fish with your hands is difficult and you need all the advantage you can get but losing a finger or worse takes away any advantages you can come up with! You've probably heard the redneck's last words: hey, watch this!

I often get to see them say them on TV & the internet now too since they're often filming their retarded actions. My wife was actually watching a show the other day ( I think it was My Redneck Wedding )where they took the couples noodling is what brought this to mind. I'm glad I'm not THAT redneck!

I think there are some sports which could be considered as dangerous, for example, wave-surfing which I used to play, if you go play in typhoon, the wave can just easily eat you alive... I never done that and wouldn't do so because it sounds too scary.

Statisticaly surfing is nowhere close. I was rather suprised to find out how many injuries & deaths came from noodeling. It's so far from the rest of the sports it's rediculeous. I wish I had remembered to keep the link.

I tried fishing but not with my bare hands, with a rod, It goes to those who seek an extreme adventure. For me there's a lot of dangerous sport and one of that is UFC, but i love watching it.

Statistically UFC even though the guys are trying to beat the crap out of each other is safer. Who'd have guessed that? Can't help but watch a train wreck happen can we?

I saw this on VH1 on the show Legend Hunters with Real and Chance. Real and Chance are two childish guys who make fools of themselves. It was hilarious watching them try to noodle. They were scared out of their minds! I guess it's not really hilarious though when you're the one noodling. Looks really difficult and does seem to take up your energy. Those things are heavy!

& that's if you don't grab onto something that's actually capable of eating YOU.
