just wondering, what do the stars and numbers mean that are by someones picture when they post. The 1 large number seems to be my total earnings?

If the large number was my earnings I would be jumping up for joy, LOL The large number has to do with the participation's you have done so far.
This link will explain what the stars all all about and how to use the rating system. Not using it properly affects earnings.

You will obtain your first star as soon as you reach 100 participation points. Best of luck to you on myLot!
