I feel majority of people in world have faith in their religion and more than that in God. Still there are people who give negative importance to this religion at times resulting in violence. May be those better path in life could be attained from adopting those positive teaching in religion. Moreover I feel many situations are handled peaceful from these teaching in religion. I could see that most people give importance to religion as it could show the better side in life and live life further with better hope.

I completely agree with you. i give my religion great importance. Being a Hindu, our religion has so many beneficial teachings that if applied can change lives. I am able to apply few of those to my life and i must admit i am quite happy with my life. Everyone must follow the teachings from their religion so that your life can be much more easier and beautiful.

What beneficial teachings does Hinduism have? Casts? Arranged marriages? Idolatry? Just wondering.

I'm a Hindu who was raised in a Muslim country...attended convents most of my life. So, I've been exposed to different religions and my faith is something I developed and am still developing. I spend a lot of time thinking about what I would believe in. Basically simple rule is ...anything that doesn't harm another living being goes....and all religions advise the same.

Sorry to have offended you, Graptopetalum...I have no intention of becoming a Jain (I have a few friends who are Jains...though they are not very strict). What I meant was in a very general way and it's quite clear from my comment that I am not a strict follower of any religion. And if given a choice, I would happily live on fruits...so that wouldn't be a problem (and nothing to do with religion here).

SViswan, perhaps you should become a Jainist. They sweep the ground in front of them to avoid treading on insects. What do you eat, if you don't want to harm any living thing? Some people just eat fruit, as that's designed to be eaten. I suppose you have to spit out the seed or relieve yourself in places where the seed will have a chance to grow. Of course if you're really serious about not harming anything, you should suppress your immune system so you don't keep killing microbes.

I draw inspiration from religion and do not follow it by letter. My thinking is that if God intended us to follow scriptures word by word, then why do we have brains? We can think and so we can be better in our life. Scriptures provide many stories for inspiration and we should use them.

That is exactly what I said. Follow in spirit and not in letter. The main reason is that the present circumstances are a little bit beyond the time when scriptures were written. We use the content of these writings to adapt to the present.

Do you think your brains are better than God? There are clearly things that aren't in scripture and you have to use your brains but if the scripture is clear, then you should follow it.

Hi dear, There was a time I given importance to religion and I respect all the religions. I have read about many religions and their principles and have done a lots of research and studies on different religions as it was my passion. The religion in which I born and all others has its own importance and relevance for many people who have given faith in it. But for me, these days, I feel no relevance in having religion for me (not for all). It is sure that having faith make much difference in many people. As I went more are more deep into the studies, I could not find anything more what I expected. It is certain principles and based on which we all are living. When I see around, people in all religions are considered it as a business and a few limited are believing only just as they follow what they are mentioned in it. If we need to keep faith in God, I don't think there is a need of a religion as a mediator. One set of people never even heard of some other religion for some time. If this is the case, what all do with these religions? It is just for a earning for a major group of people and depend on various religions, a huge number of people are living. So, for a large portion of people, their living means is religion and it is a must for the to have the religion. I think if we talk about it, the discussion never ends and I am sure that to live as a good and responsible and understanding person, I still believe that there is no need of ANY religion or religious influence in our life. I am sure that I can live as a better person than any of the religious people around. It is not for just a saying sake, and I have proved it with some of the known religious people. Thank-s

That's a great observation Thank-s, more people need to realize it. People usually do realize it when they thoroughly and critically study religions or at least their own religion and most of the time reach the same conclusion as you. Unfortunately, not many like to study, they prefer to be served their beliefs on a plate.

yes I do. religion is the main purpose of me. this is why God create me, to be faithful, to pray, and to be good to human, animal and universe. I believe all religions teach good things and if all people do what their religion teaches them, then what a better world would it be..

I am one of those people who give importance to my religion. I think those faith has keep me on the right track until now. A lot of things has been happened in last few days that I thought of giving up, but when I think of the way I was thought to live I remember that my religion plays a very important role to hang on, be patience and trust in the Lord. I am very thankful to my religion because it serves as guide for me what is right and what is wrong. I agree with you that a lot of people give importance to it that's why they become a better person and had helped them guide in the right direction.

I agree that religion can show better side of life but i think in todays world people dont practice their religion by them selfs and preach it to other with quite forcefully and this leads the society to problems. I try to practice my religion but i never involved in discussion regarding religion.

We don't have to agree with an others religious viewpoint to love that person. Most religions teach us to love one another.

Yes i gave the importance for my religion and this is the catholic belief that i have since i was born. Every time we are talking about religion we always go to the discussions about life without God. Because we believe that without Him we are nothing so what will happen next? These are only a little discussions inside the family together with the children for them to know that God is the most high and above all. That he can give all our needs and do not rely only to our own strength. This will serves as our power to continue living because nowadays life was so hard. From finding the job till the economy of the country with some disasters around the globe. So for me this is the only way to win the hardness of living. Believe and pray.

Yes friend you are right every people faith on their religion and God. I also loved my religion but I think religion is important for every person but why they fight on the topic of religion I dont know. They should see first they are human being and then their religion has came. Generally whenever any person talk about any religion then there fighiting is arise. Our religion teaching us peacefulness but we cant do this mostly in politics we are seen this topic Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Isai, Buddha every religion is great no one can say this religion is not good the festival of this religion in not good.

I look at religion (each religion, no matter what their philosophy) as a flag the team members gather under. They might have disagreements among themselves (post-jihadism vs. pre-jihadism, Protestants vs. Catholics, ranch vs. thousand-island, etc.), but all individuals believe that the ends of the religion are all-good!

my relationship with God is very important to me. I strive to keep it always a priority in my life. There are many practical principles that helps us live better lives. The principles that many live by like you said that helps them to be peaceful and live better lives. My family as well are spiritually minded and that helps to be able to talk with others about our beliefs and encourage and uplife one another.

yes. I need to give time to my spiritual life, because I am a whole person. I have a soul and a body, and both need care. I put time and effort into building a strong relationship with the Gods, and advancing in my spiritual life as well as physical

I think all religions are a con. They may help some people but basicly they are there to give the clergy power over others based on nothing but a myth

Well personally I don't give more importance in religion that I do give on God. For it's better that I dedicated my life with God and follows his commandments rather that being religious. I believe Abraham in the bible was blessed by God even though he was a man with no religion, so religion is not a prerequisite or a requirement to receive salvation but I would not deny the fact that choosing a right religion can help us boost our spiritual life and can teach us more about God. Before I have have attended a number of different sects and that gave me a hard time choosing which one is right. And finally I decided to join and accept baptism from the church where my parents also joined but now our church was dissolve because of some reason but still my faith and love for God never fades. I still continue to adore and praised my God even I am not active in church. But sooner or later I would still want to consider attending church located near our place.

I believe that religion has to be an important quality to life. it is what faith and belief is built on. without religion, what need would there be for the hope of the world?

Honestly I feel at peace in my religion yeah perhaps others fail to give importance to their religion but I guess we cant blame them coz its depends on how they interact themselves to God. Like somehow others don't go to church regularly but we might never know that they pray with themselves heartily. Its how you communicate to God its how you talk to Him...:)

I think that religion should be a personal thing. I am not religious myself, but i have respect for people who believe. I think the problem with violence in the name of religion, comes when religion is used politically. Thats why i think all countries should separate state and religion. Religious people are themselves responsible for showing the better side of religion.
