Several month ago, I drove our compact car with my wife and 2 teenage boys and 7 years old boy to Terengganu. I took the family out there to eat "nasi kerabu" which originally comes from there. The thing is, It was 1 o'clock in the morning and trip took me around 8 hours. The decision to go there was spontaneous and at the drop of a hat. My wife and children loves the food that comes from there, so just to fulfill the craving for "nasi dagang" "keropok losong "nasi kerabu" and others...off we go. After reaching there, we took a drive around town, a little sightseeing while looking for the best place to have what we want. Then when we are full we brought some more food item that can last some times and start the drive back home to Kuala Lumpur. Total travel time to and fro around 22 hours. No the question is, have you done something similar, or will you do it if times allowed.

Wow,that awesome. I never done such thing. But yes i do crave for foods but some foods that i craved for can be bought from malls though it costs a lot compared to where it originally came from. And i have to pay that just to satisfy my cravings, worth it anyway.

The thing is, I can get the stuff neat my house on a daily basis. It is just you crave the authenticity, the pure and the original taste. When money is not a matter would you fly to Japan for sushi, even to Italy for pizza. That is what I am talking about when you crave for the original.

What a trip! If I had the time, I may do that. hehehe... My friends and I love to eat. We would plan a vacation based on what we want to eat in a certain place. But as for a road trip just to satisfy our craving, my longest would be a 3 hour drive to Subic. We would eat at 2 different restaurants that boasts of their largest pizza and tacos. hahaha... Total travel time is around 8 - 10 hours.

I also remember when we went to Kuala Lumpur and Siem Reap in one trip. We had the food trip of our lives. hahaha... 5 days of buffets and food of all types. I remember booking ourselves in a hotel next to Bukit Bintang just to dine there for the night. hahaha... We also tested the buffet at the KL Revolving Restaurant. In Siem Reap, we had a stroke of luck when our tour operator upgraded our meals from plated to buffet. Feels like heaven!

Yes it is good to have a long drive and one should travel to have the particular food which you are craving.More than the food it is the satisfaction after having it.It is more greater than the travelling and with the people you love.To win the heart is from the stomach.Once I did go out with my husband we are in our early fifties.I had gone to visit him at the nearest mall where he is working.I knew he loves prawns and thai food.It was three in the afternoon and we enjoyed a lot.At times he does party and I had carried with me a bottle of Jack Daniels. For me it was not the food but the happiness i saw on his face.I did give him a gift which was a gold chain from Tanishq. After that we had a long drive saw the Tajmahal and stayed over night at Lucknow.Even today I do surprise him with small things and we are bonded very much to each other.A home is built of hearts.Small things to help us a lot in bonding.

I do travel to satisfy my desire to go off exploring of different countries. I go traveling with my three year old son and my 21 month old daughter. A few months ago we went on a trip to the Caribbean coast of Colombia. The year before we traveled to Vancouver and some other places in that region of Canada. When I was pregnant with my daughter I took my disabled son to Cape Town and the Garden Route in South Africa. When I am in my day to day life I go on day trips to satisfy my need to go off exploring. Last month I took my kids to Exeter for a day. It was lovely to look at the Cathedral and around some of the shops. I noticed some very attractive looking architecture. Next month we will be visiting a bird reserve.

Sometimes I do, but not with that long drive, unless there are beautiful scenery to look along the way. In Bali, there is famous "Nasi Ayam Kedewatan" which around 1.5 hours to drive there, there is also famous "Serombotan and Sate Ikan" around two hours drive from Denpasar, and several other places where I normally go with friends just to get the original taste.

Hi there, It seems you had a great time. I have never had such a long travel as yours but i definitely crave for food. Once i felt like icecream at middle of night and asked my partner to drive me to the nearest icecream parlour. We checked almost 5 places but i couldn't get anything. Finally, we saw a McDonald's at a distance. I was so happy to grab a sundae icecream. I know it is weird but cravings can take you through so much.
