In so far as many people are concerned, nothing is more desirable than to possess more and better things in this world. Such an attitude is shaped largely by a social environment that pays too much attention and gives inordinate importance to material well-being. People are conditioned to think that progress can only be measured in terms of prosperity and worldly possessions. They are made to believe that for one to be counted successful in life, he has to be rich, because then he can buy anything he wants and needs. The mass media exercise enormous influence in the shaping of this attitude, advertising practitioners spend millions and employ different strategies and techniques to persuade people to want things that they don't really need. constantly subjected to a barrage of messages designed to temp everyone to acquire more material goods that are supposed to provide pleasurable, comfortable, healthful and secured existence, may people succumb to materialism to the prejudice of their soul. This is the condition from which so many people today are suffering, their attention being so completely absorbed by the worries of this life and by the love of riches. consequently, almost all their time is used up in the pursuit of material things such that nothing more is left for things spiritual, in a frantic hurry to attain wealth, power and fame, they forget or spurn, their religious obligations, they neglect to serve and workship God.

sometimes, it all boils down to forgetting whom we owe this world and this life. we forget that it's God who have helped us to be where we are and gave us what we have. people think the riches they have and who they are now are product of their own skills and hardships alone. they neglect the fact that God has let these beautiful things to happen in their lives. they think that they don't need God to have a good and fruitful life. the truth is, money is not happiness and happiness is not money. life and happiness is more than any material thing in this world. on my part,in every good thing happening to my life, i pause to thank God for all the blessings. during hard times, i call Him for guidance and strength, and i feel i'm not alone and that i can make things through. and i feel a lot better.

I find it very difficult at times to make time with our Lord, but I every morning I thank him and try to spend at least 30 mins on his word, say grace before meals and attend church. With so much going on in our lives, it's hard to keep my mind FOCUSED but I keep trying. =D

People are always in a hurry,to and fro, always trying to get ahead of time, all because they busy themselves for money. Money they say makes the world go round and so even the time to pause for a thank you prayer is not uttered. We should not live for today but for tomorrow with GOD, as our time comes to an end. Do not give so much strength to hold your life for it is not yours to keep. Give what is due to GOD.
