At last australia got defeated in a world cup knockout stage.I feel like if they had made it to semis then they have very high change of winning this world cup.I feel like the only teams that are capable of defeating australia in knock out stages are South africa and India.Even these two teams are not very consistent with their performance against australia.
So india has done its part by kicking aus out of world cup. This time we will have a new wc champion for the 21st century.

Australia is not the same champion side. The team of 2005 would have amassed 350 - 400 against this Indian attack. It was very surprising to see Ponting unable to force the pace and the other batsmen were afraid of attacking.
The Australian standards have gone down but the others have improved marginally. India has learnt not to give up and has been winning more because of that. One will see that against Pakistan. The current Indian team can recover from hopeless situations and does not simply fold up.
Australia knows that they would not go past India. Their older players and experts admitted as much before the match.
Shahid Afridi had promised his people that his team would reach the semis but it will be very difficult to go past India. Afridi knows that but his country will now be greedy to win the world cup. They don't know that India has been planning and improving from the days of Kumble to win this world cup, whereas other than Afridi no other Pakistani believed that their team could even reach the Quarter final stage. But who knows what is in store? The best plans can go awry.

i agree with you. Australia's quality has gone down drastically whereas that of other teams' have increased marginally.I wonder what would have happened if there was gilchrist and hayden.India have only one good fast bowler in zaheer khan.Munaf patel is useless as always. Now we got a good spinner in Ashwin as well. The team should thank their spinners for saving the day.

Yes, most countries are happy that the Aussie strangle hood on the cup is over. It was fitting that India did it as over the past decade or so, India is the one country that has consistently challenged Australia in all forms of the game. So after knocking them from the perch of the Test Cricket, India has now knocked them off the perch in the ODIs as well.
Cheers!

now aus has lost their form and unity as a team.
they are not the champions as if they were in the past.
Anyway India knocked out the defending champions and it will be a big relief for all other teams who are in the semi.
surely aus always perform well on big platforms and the credit for knocking out aus goes to the indian team.
