It seems that more and more police are being attacked and injured or killed in the line of duty. This trend started 2 years ago and has been increasing and this years is on tract to be the worst yet. On Fox news they interview a couple of big city Police Chief and asked them what they thought was the reason for the increase. One pointed out that it was not the bigger weapons or increased firepower that seem to be the reason. Another one stated that the increased in repeat offenders in the population and the increased number of socially maladjusted people in society. One factor not mentioned was the increased lack of respect for law enforcement by the politicians and the public. When a police officer arrests a person and they want to cut a deal the first thing the DA drops is resisting arrest and assaulting an officer. When a criminal complains about police brutality, the officer faces several levels of trials and hearings and they must be found innocent at every one or face jail. Look at the border guards who shot a drug smuggler-sentenced to prison for an administrative mistake with a gun enhancement. Then there is the case of the President criticizing police action before he had the facts. Are we, as a society becoming a threat to the police because of our attitude toward them and to some extent portraying the criminal as a victim?

Hi. bobmnu. I am not sure about all of this. I am very sorry about the officers that have loss their lives on the line of duty. But what really saddens me is the fact that there are officers that are a threat to society. They are mean and they beat upon many citizens. It is just treacherous to see how they brutalize many people that have committed terrible crimes. It is just so sad. I hope that one day, this can diminish. My uncle was a police officer for many years. And one day he was running behind some criminals and he ended up hurting his back really bad. He constructed an Herniated Disc from this situation too. He has not worked in the last twelve to eleven years since then too. I just think that many police officers are taking upon a brave job to apprehend many criminals. It seems that along the way they are murdered or killed themselves too. It is just very sad.
