Parents should nurture their children's spiritual life just as they nurture them with material needs to become useful citizens. The prevalence of crime everywhere in the world has brought increasing dangers, anxiety and fear to many people. As the occurrences of crimes become more rampant, we cannot tell who the next victim will be and where the crime will take place. what many parents worry about is the noticeable involvement of the youth in so many crimes that are committed everyday. What might be the reason behind youth violence? What drives them to perpetrate crimes?

As parents we are the role models to help in the guidance of our childrens' spiritual lives. We can not force them into spirituality but we can lead them there. @owlwings (43897)

How can you expect parents to nurture their children's spiritual lives if they have none of their own?
It is all very well to say that people 'should' do this or that but, in many cases, they do not have the first idea about how to go about it and have little incentive or concern in doing so.
I think I would agree that selfishness and a lack of care for others is a disease of modern society in many places and that this is probably due, in part, to a lack of proper parenting. I think that there are other factors too, though, especially the 'normalisation' (and almost approbation) of violence on TV and in the media in general.
