Do you prefer reading with an ebook reader or with an old bulky book?

Right now, I still prefer reading a book. There's something about the feel of turning pages of paper that makes me like it better rather than reading an ebook. I have about 5 ebooks on my phone right now including The Van Alen's Legacy and other books but I haven't finished reading them yet except Anne of the Island. Which do you prefer? Ebook or book? And why?

I think a phone doesn't really count as an e-book reader. The LCD little screen makes it difficult to read for a long time but that doesn't happen with e-ink screens. I've seen readers in a shop and if I had the money I'd buy one because of their functions but I will always enjoy reading normal books. I don't see the 2 things in contrast with each other. E-books are only one more way to read and I think they would be great to read a book in a foreign language if they have a dictionary installed.

Yes, both things have their pro and cons. I.e. I've read that Philadelphia library is lending e-books worldwide for about 15$ per year (or so...). I think that I would use a reader for books I don't care to own but I'd still buy books from authors I love. It's not the same thing having them on a digital support, I think.

I would still prefer holding the bulky book and flip through the pages. I would the feeling of physically turning the pages one by one (though the tablet or ebook reader can do that, but I can't feel the pages). However, if I am traveling, I would prefer bring the ebook reader as it saves space and weight. Cheers.

I like both, and I'm not sure I can favor one over the other. For me, it's the story that matters, not the packaging its in. But, for books, I do love the feel and the smell - bookstores smell wonderful. All that lovely paper and ink. And also when you get a used book that someone has written notes in, it's like an added bonus. On the other hand, I'm a new ereader, and there are advantages to that. I read practically everywhere, and that usually means a lot of one handed reading. When I eat, that means a lot of broken spines on regular books so I can keep them open while I eat. With ebooks, I can go to the next page just by pressing a button. It's a flat screen so I can keep the book open. Also, I like being able to hold multiple books in one device. I think that's the biggest advantage. I've pretty much run out of room for regular books. I would say the main flaw is if I rely too much on ebooks, that eliminates the pleasure of browsing through a bookstore and discovering a new book as a surprise. But, that's not really a problem with the ebooks themselves, just on how exclusively someone uses them.
