With regards to the aim for a "zero waste" in their school, my daughter were asked to plant an ornamental or a herbal plants using the recycled plastic 1.5 liters soda plastic container. The idea is to cut the container in a half, make holes in the bottle cap, then put the upper side (upside-down) inside the bottom part. fill the bottom part with water and fill the upper side with soil and plant. The idea is the roots will get water from the bottom part and any excess water will not be wasted. During the recognition, the principal, on her welcome address asked the parents to continue what they are teaching the children inside the campus. The zero waste management, recycling projects and proper garbage disposal are one of the things that they are doing. Since, I've seen this as a good initiative by the school, I encourage my daughters to start planting in recycled pots. I also asked them to bring out their old notebooks, we segregate the used pages from unused pages then bind it again. We have made 2 new notebooks from the old ones which my daughter will use in practicing their drawing or artistic skills. What are your recycling projects at home?
