Gosh I have not sewn in years and I use to love to sew. I just bought a machine one day and with the patterns learned on my own. I have to admit in the beginning I made a few mistakes but learned as I went. How about the fabric stores, they usually hold sewing classes and seminars and if I remember correctly they were free. Reason behind it was so that the students/attendees would purchase materials at their store.

I have tried sewing my own clothes but that was long time ago! haha I learned that from our school, its actually part of one of our class. We just do the basics, the teacher teach us how to get measurements, how to make patterns, to cut and finally to assemble. I think sewing our own clothes is fun but its not easy. (well at least for me) I think you can enroll for some informal classes on sewing, I guess there's a lot of institutions that offers such courses especially now.

My mother is a dressmaker and as i watched her make clothes, i learn the basics of sewing and good at repairing tears or placing buttons.. the difficult part would be making the pattern based on the size of the body, and that is something that i'm not good at..

I can sew the edges that has been torn of my dresses but I haven't tried sewing a whole dress. We have a sewing machine as old as my mother and it is still functioning and yet I haven't tried sewing a real clothes, only curtains and pillow cases and those table cloths.
