I have two kids, a girl and a boy. It seems that they are contrast in some ways. Like for instance, my son loves to eat veggies but my daughter, vice versa. You can see in her face a yucky gesture when eating veggies and really she's the most picky when it comes to foods. I don't know what happen but when she was little(she's 10 years old now), she likes veggies. The only trick to get her to eating veggies is when I prepare spring rolls and dumplings. How I wish she will come to love eating greens...

Just want to ask you some questions so I can understand what my child feels about veggies. Did you ever try to eat some? What made you say that you don't like it? what was the feeling? Thanks!

i don't taste a lot of new food in the menu so some veggies i don't really know the taste but just by looking at them make me sick and i hate it, there was a time when i'm still in highschool, i ask my dad if i could go out with some friends on weekend, then at dinner he said eat atleast four slices of squash to get my consent regarding this weekend hangout... i'd tried to eat one then i vomit everything i've ate, then my dad say, okay don't eat the rest you can go.....

i don't exactly know what's your age but all of us have something we don't like to eat, put it in your situation you were forced to eat something that you really don't like to eat, that's the feeling of your daughter everytime you ask her to eat veggies which is definitely not her likes....

I have same problem with my daughter who is already in her 20's. She's so picky , she don't like eating some foods such as salads with mayonnaise and some vegetables. The veggies she only like are okra, kangkong and grilled eggplant . But she likes them to have a bagoong with lemon juice sauce to dip them into.

It's a good thing though , that my daughter like eating fish too, specially "galunggong" simmered in small amount of water, with lots of sliced tomatoes, or "kamias" and a little salt. She likes fish sinigang too.

Well, I guess daughters are the picky ones, lol! But you know what, its really frustrating when I serve veggies and see the face of my daughter. Its like she's being tortured or something :(

i know someone like that. she's of legal age now and until now her reaction to veggies is still like that. the problem is that aside from health problems, you'll be having budgetary problems as well. meat and all meat. no to extenders which are usually veggies. so even if you can't make both ends meet, mom is forced to serve meat or else daughter won't eat! :p

One good tip is to make it with some sauce to cover. What does she likes, red sauce, white? Then make it to cover the vegetables and she can really put a lot of it so the taste can even be changed. If you make her eat veggies now then she can forever, if she doesn't learn as a child she won't eat. There was this friend of mine, he and his twin sister didn't like it when they started to eat, he told me how his mom even let him starve until he eats, since he was a baby, he and his sister can eat only vegetables without even a rice or a bread, they love veggies like chocolate, can you believe that?

I guess it's just a stage most children go through, as I & my sister & brother did when growing up. It is up to you to educate your children about how good these vegetables are for them, prepare them in a huge variety of ways, even taking them out to eat at restaurants, etc & involve them in the cooking or preparation process. It's up to you to show them different ways of seeing & experiencing things. There's another aspect to it as well. Sometimes one child will do the opposite to the other child just to be different. Maybe they want attention or they just want to do things their way. Either way, they'll get over it & grow out of it. The lasting impressions will be how you respond & deal with the situation.

When I was a little girl, there were some veggies that I didn't like either. But my mother made a big mistake in that when she served the vegetables that I didn't like, she would try to force me to eat them. When I say force, I mean she wouldn't let me leave the table until I had eaten them. That method never worked because I would sit there for hours and not touch a bite of those veggies that I hated, and I still hate the same ones today! As a suggestion, if she likes fruit juice, maybe you could get a juicer and make fruit/vegetable drinks or smoothies for her.

Hi, it seems most kids don't like vegetables. My son is also the case. Actually, he once told me that he heard from the tv that the more you eat vegetables, the fast you will get used to their tastes and will fall in love with them. But when i tell him to eat vegetables, he will reluctant to do that. Yes, if we try to find the answer to the problem, we will succeed. As you have mentioned, dumplings is a good choice. i often try to make all kind of dumplings. and when you mix vegetables with meat in the dumplings, kids will can't pick them out, and in this way, they will get used to the tastes of the vegetables and fall in love with them.

Try preparing them in different ways (steaming, boiling, stir-frying, etc.) and with different sauces (cheese, butter, teriyaki, salad dressing, etc). I have found that sometimes kids need to be exposed to a veggie many times before they like it. Other times they just need the right combo before they realize they like it. Good luck! I also have 2 kids that have very different tastes so I know exactly how frustrating it can be.

Yeah some kids are just really picky and do not like veggies. I totally hated them as a child and teenager. Now as an adult I love veggies of all kinds and love to make so many different dishes to combine with the veggies. As long as she is healthy with no vitamin deficiency I don't see any problems with it so keep springing the rolls. Which I love by the way.

Well, then, I guess U need 2 make more dumplings, I know it's not easy 2 make duo to the quantity. Does she love cheese? I usually cover melting cheese on sprouts 4 my nephew. Or just give her a fresh juice, add apple in it, it'll taste better

Children really hates vegetables. That's why we mom should try to do our best so that our children will like it. It is just the way how we prepare the food that matters.
