Have you ever asked a question on mylot and people totally missed the point of your question? They go on and on but they never really answer the question you posted. I don't know either they miss read it or they have no idea what you are asking but they just want to reply. When people totally miss the point of your post, what do you say to them? Do you correct them or just say thanks for the reply??

Used to hppen all the time and people even thought that I was serious when I was blatantly joking. Such is life. I sometimes would tell them but usually it wasn't worth the effort and just responded in the same vein that they asked the question.

Yes it's annoying but can't say much because I think I sometimes do it without noticing. Sorry if I every did it to you. I just say thanks and interesting point and explain maybe what I meant. Happy mylotting, mylotters!!

This has never happened to me on MyLot, but it happened to me on another site. What I ended up doing was going back and explaining what I meant by the question, trying to get the point across in any way possible. It ended up working, and people were able to see what it was that I was trying to say.

Sure, I have. I think the reason this happens is because these users want to make a quick buck (or in this case a penny or 2). They only bother to read the title of the discussion and not the discussion itself. (I'm guessing that's what happened here?) Sometimes I ignore it, other times I point it out. But one thing I don't do is say thank you for replying when they didn't have a clue as to what the discussion is about. Sometimes I will write misleading titles on purpose just to see who reads the whole thing and who doesn't. For example, I have one titled "Do you like real big ones, little dinky ones, or in between ones?" There were of course a few that went by the title alone. But most took the time to read it and saw how innocent it really was! LOL (In case you missed it, it was about earrings!) In a way it's a good test to find out who's paying attention. You should give it a try. You never know, it could turn out to be a lot of fun! Happy mylotting!

Hi momma I have had that in my own discussions even though I have clearly pointed out in the discussion that it is not about such and such and the majority only respond to the such and such. lol I don't really correct them, but more like clarify. I would hope I responded to a discussion as I understood it, but hope it can be possible that the discussion was not really clear for all to arrive at the conclusion. If it happens like you mentioned I have been known to say, I see but really what I wanted to discuss was and then I re-explain. Some members come back and the discussion has furthered. I don't get too upset about too many things on here because for me it is still fun and I would like to keep it fun for a lot longer so I find that as my acquaintances offline there are times that clarification is necessary. If I have ever not understood a discussion of yours my advanced apologies.

Now that makes sense to me, it furthers the discussion. Maybe we don't make ourselves clear because we are in a hurry to be the first to respond to our friends.

That is possible especially when I see the first box sometimes say first. Then they come back and respond separately. lol.. I find that hilarious.

I don't think I have ever had that happen on any of my discussions, but I ha ve been told a few times that I really didn't respond properly to the question they proposed. Others have felt that I did answer it and told the discussion starter so. II didn't upset me all the much as I probably did respond wrongly, so I would go back and read it again, and post a comment back apologizing for misteading the discussion and not responding with the correct response. Other than that, I can't recall that every happening. Good luck to you and happy myltting.
