playing to your strengths

I don't know other people's experience but every time that I try to apply for a 'realistic' job, I try to play to strengths and not just apply on some random company. My reason behind this action is that I have the skill to do the work and the work itself will be on my advantage (read - it won't prove too boring or too hard for me). I am not scorning those people who are underemployment - people who chose their jobs that does not match their education. God knows that every human being needs money, especially for breadwinners who try to raise their respective families. My point is is you're good at something, capitalize and thrive on it. That's what I tell myself. And I also don't scorn every opportunity given to me. Sometimes, opportunity and skill just don't match. (not that I'm picky or anything..) Do you also play to your strengths when it comes to job-hunting? Please share your experience.
