I am a big fan of photoshop, I love to create new images, and make crazy efects on mine, or pictures of friends and family, for fun. Now, I am after other programs, similar to photoshop, to try, so far, I have this two, Gimp and photo-pos pro, really good ones, and they are free, so, if any of you don´t have photoshop, this are two great and highly recomended alternatives, if any of you know of another, I´d be glad to know of you, also, if anyone wants to share experiences with me.

Hi albto_568!
Photoshop is the most known photo program, but it cost so much! I've tried a demo some years ago but is so complex and I think is great for professional. For my use I don't need a big program like that, I prefer a simply one. I tried some programs and I have to say that there are free programs and easy to use like Picasa, Gimp. Now I don't have a photo program installed, I use Paint if I have to modify or if I have to add some effects I use an online photo editor www.picnik.com! It's very good and free and you don't need to install a program. You can upload and modify photos online. I love it!

Hello jamz82, thank you very much for your reply, indeed, photoshop is quite expensive, and sort of complicated, but I like to do efects on photos and drawings, and, although I am not a profesional designer or technical, I like it, paint is good, but, too much limited for my taste, I have Gimp, you can get the most of you can get from photoshop, but it´s as much as complicated, and less user-friendly for some tasks, I recomend you to try photo pos, is the most easier, and you can get far more from it than from paint or picassa, you have to upload it , but it´s not that heavy.

I remember now that some years ago I used Paint shop pro. I never upgraded it because new version were very heavy, and old one is small and has all the feature I needed.
Sometimes I use windows paint when I need a fast program to make simply editing like cut or screenshots.
Thanks for your reccomendation I checked the photo pos site and I saw screenshot, seems very easy to use.
