I am the type of person who likes to do thing by himself, right now, I am dedicated to have my own web page, and, yes, I know what most of you are thinking right now, it is much better to hire a professional web designer, and I know, but for me, nothing compares with the satisfaction of doing things by oneself. I have visited several web-hosting sites, but, also, I have been reading and learning about HTML language, and I find it quite interesting and now, I am consider to build a page by myself, the only point, is that in this case, I wouldn´t have promotion of my page, and it makes me hesitate a little. I wonder if any of you could give any light on this issue.

I totally understand wanting to do the web design yourself. I've done it for three or four sites myself over the years and enjoyed it a lot. I like to be able to make it look and act the way I want rather than the way someone thinks it should. You're right in being concerned about promoting it, but you can do that yourself, too. Study up on SEO and site promotion just like you are HTML. Also consider CSS because it makes updating a lot easier. As long as you can get out on the internet and study, you can do it. It will take more time than hiring someone else, but it's worth it to me, anyway.

You're more than welcome. CSS is "cascading style sheet" which explains nothing, I know. In reality, they're text files that can control the elements of an HTML document like font types and size, background images and colors and so on. You can also specify text areas and sizes of those areas, color of the background of them and so on. You can change the entire look of a page by changing a few things in the CSS file. Just look up beginning CSS or something like that. I think it may be easier to learn it along with HTML instead of afterward, like I did. Good luck and have fun with it!

Thank you very much for your help and advice, it is of great help for me. My page, I am not sure how to describe it, the point is that I am painter and artcraft, and my intention is to promote myself, so, maybe you can place it as personal and e-commerce, maybe. There are still so much to learn, I will follow your advise, and study in the areas you pointed. Thank you for the software, I already use Notepad++, but had no idea of the others. Thanks again for help, as soon as I´m done with page, I will ask again, hope you don´t mind.
