Would you like that 24 was truly in real time? Cos in fact it is not...

At the beginning f the episode they like to say that events happen in real time. But in effect although each episode represents an hour, this is shown in an episode with a duration of roughly 45mins. I would prefer that it is in fact in real time exactly.

If you add the 15 minutes of commercials with the 45 minutes of actual TV, it is an hour. You'll notice that after each break, they often show a split screen showing what various characters were doing during the break. It (conveniently) never happens to be anything rather interesting, but it does show that the the show does "go on" during the commercials. It's about as real time as you can possibly get for TV.
