my daughter is at dress rehearsal for the school talent show. This is her second year. I don't think I had this much courage in the second grade like she does. She will be performing in front of the entire school again. That's over 300 people. She has her routine down pat. But to be honest, I was glad when she told me she'd rather do the science fair next year. Have you ever been more nervous than your kid?

Maybe, but I don't remember. My kids are all pretty outgoing, and they've all been involved in things from a very early age. I guess the most nervous I could have been was during my daughter's first dance recital when she was just four years old, but I don't remember being too nervous. I was worried that she might get nervous and not perform, but she was the best in her class.. and I'm not just saying that because I'm her mom. Every recital since she has been the best in her class! She's got another coming up in a couple weeks. April 9th.

Yes and I think it is simply a mother instinct. We sort of recall our own past experiences and remember at the moment how nervous we were so we somehow instantly feel that they are going to be nervous also. But the fact that they do well shows that we upon raising them did utilize our past experiences when teaching them certain things in life and while doing so it some how builds their self confidence. Best of luck to her in the talent show.
