Hi asliah,
I never heard that before that diamond is one ingredient of the cutter which is a tool to cut glasses and aluminum.I just thought it was only used for jewelries and diamond is one of the most expensive and the most wish of most women.hehe..
What say?

I like diamonds. But I only like their hardness.I think they should be used in industry instead of jewelry.I prefer man-made diamonds to natural diamonds just because I like these good things to be a common product.I hope someday there will be a easier way for people to make diamonds.Weapons are not so simple like this as I think.Laser is over 1000 times better than diamonds which are used in military.Diamond can only make old swords, which should be in the museum,I think .

Diamonds are so useful because the are so hard some diamonds are so hard that they can i only be cut by another diamond.Another interesting is that diamond and graphite are made mostly of the same things and the reason one is extremely soft and the other is hard is because the bonds are arranged differently due to being formed differently.

Actually, it is only now that I have learned that the blade used to cut glass has diamonds in its base. I know that diamond is one if not the hardest gemstone but it didn't come to my mind that it is that hard that it can cut glass or even stones. I have no idea if there other uses of diamond except as gemstones in our jewelries especially in engagement rings.

For every ton of diamond used as a gemstone, there are four tons of diamond used industrially. It is the hardest known naturally occurring mineral and so can be used to cut hard materials such as stone, concrete and glass.
Diamond is pure crystalline carbon (though it sometimes contains impurities which, in a gemstone, can change the colour to pink, yellow, green or blue), so it is made of exactly the same atoms as the smoke from a candle or, for example, a lump of coal. What makes it so hard, however, is the way that the atoms are arranged in a very rigid cube. This can only happen under tremendous heat and pressure, so diamonds which are dug from the earth have all been made deep beneath the surface by volcanic action.
Not only is diamond used for cutting hard minerals (usually by embedding diamond dust in the surface of metal drill bits and saw blades) but it is can also be used to make frictionless bearings for very sensitive equipment, windows in laser equipment and heat sinks in electronic circuits. As such, it could be used in weaponry.
