Would online bill pay as secure as money order to your creditor?

I recently settle with Discover Card on with a debt I owe them, and a court judgment is already consented. I already sent out my first payment through certified mail with a money order attached to it. But the cost of money order from local post office cost more than a dollar, and I would try to pay with bill pay from my online bank, would it be secure? As the customer service told me, it will not expose my routing number and account number through bill pay. So, do you think online bill pay will be secure as a money order to your creditor?

I think that it would be just as secure and cheaper then having to go to the post office or any other place every time you wanted to pay your bill. Also it can be set up automatically so that it will take it out when you want it to. Ofcourse a money order is also a good thing to have as it's record that you have paid your bill. I went to the bank to get money orders everytime I had to send off a bill for a credit card debt.

Check local l*iquor stores...one near me charges 45 cents for MO's. But if it was a settlement issue...I'd NEVER pay it with online and giving that creditor my account number and all. YOu never know what they might try to do now that they have your checking account number. Just cut a buck elsewhere and pay for the money order and know that you are covered.

Do you have a Wal-mart near by? Their money orders are much cheaper and you can take more out. I have always been told that when you are settling a debt it is better to pay by money order so they will not be able to have access to your bank account information. I am just afraid that Discover may try to get your account information and take more money out of your account.
