My Mom is hiding books from me!

I usually snoop through the bags and packages that come in when they're marked with Barnes And Noble or Christian Book Distributors. I like to know what my family is reading! But lately Mom has been coming home with bags from Barnes and Noble and not letting me see what she got for herself. This is how I know my birthday is coming up. lol I don't watch the calendar anymore, I watch for when my Mom starts hiding books from me. So now the question is... what books has she gotten for me? I'm pretty sure one of them is "The Throne of Fire" by Rick Riordan. We both read and loved the first book (Naturally she stole my copy, but I don't mind because there's a lot of book stealing going on in this house. It's the norm.), so it could be one of the things she buys for my birthday but intends to read for herself first. lol That also happens a whole lot in this house. But there was one package and one shopping bag she hid from me, so there has to be at least one other book and I don't know what it is. Oh well. I only have to wait a month. Are there any families out there like mine? Does your mom/dad/child/spouse/sibling buy books and hide them from you? How's that turn out in the end? Are you surprised or do you know what all the books are before you open them?

Actually my sister does the same. Both of us loves comics and she sometimes gifts me comic books. She buys it days earlier and gives it to me wrapped and all but after reading it. We had this thing going on in our house when we were kids that my sister usually has the first read of almost all the comic book/novels/magazines that we bring home LOL. We got into huge fights because of that but these days we share

My sister and I had similar fights when we were little (she usually got the first read too!). These days my sister reads veeeerry slow. So by the time she gets to whatever book came into the house, I've already read it and maybe eight books in-between. So these days we share.

LOL it's exactly the opposite with me. I am the one who reads slow. When i have finished reading one book, she would have already read 4 more and would be waiting for the one I was reading LOL

Well, no... But again, I'm not home all the time, however, pretty much 95% the time I'm with the roomie when she shops (something about laws against blind people driving.) None the less, she managed to surprise me with an audio copy of Jasper Fforde's new book "One of Our Thursdays is Missing". I tried to buy an audio copy when he came to town, but they didn't have it available then. Now she's gotten it for me. Granted, its not my birthday or anything, but she still managed to surprise me with it today!

lol, My Mom used to joke that the white plastic lane markers were to help the blind people drive. I actually believed her when I was six... That sounds like a pleasant surprise! What a nice roommate you have.

Oh how fortunate you are ally, to have a family so involved in books..Mine is not and if my spouse was to try to buy something for me, he wouldn't know what or how to hide it from me...:( But I know my son has been looking forward to the latest series he likes and I had not only bought it weeks ago, but had bought one with the author's signature, and I am trying to keep it from him until his special day next month..:)

I know, I'm very grateful for them That sounds sweet that you would buy an autographed book for him! Did you find a good hiding spot for it? lol
