Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice, David Prosser participated in a forum hosted by the Sheboygan Liberty Coalition at UW-Sheboygan. I'm posting some videos I took at the event. He answers questions about various pertinent topics.
This one is about Collective Bargaining. He states that rights spelled out in the Constitution are inflexible. Rights spelled out in statute are also inflexible, until the statute is changed. Collective bargaining is a tradition that has been valuable in our society, and should only be changed for very good reason.
If it is to be changed, it isn't a matter of Constitutional law, any changes should be made at the ballot box.
In other words, when we cast out ballot at election time, we need to consider the policies of the people who were are voting for, or against. The elected officials will make laws based on the policies they bring to the table.

I didn't immediately reply to this discussion because I had no questions or disagreement with the Judge Prosser on this.
Three days have gone by and this discussion only has one response? Are people not responding for the same reasons as I, or is it that no one seems to care anymore. I care. So here I am in support of the Judge's remarks. Where is everyone else?
Is this a symptom of what is wrong in general with our society? If it's a possible scandal, there's many responses. If it is just a Supreme Court Judge explaining what is law and what is the correct interpretation of law, no ones interested? Or is everyone in agreement with the Judge as I am? I hope this is the case.
Sorry ParaTed, for ranting on your discussion. Am I correct in my estimations?

We all have our reasons for the discussions we choose to participate in, and those we don't. I didn't expect tons with this one simply because it's mostly a Wisconsin state issue. I did hope that the general topic might stir some discussion though. I know I don't respond to every discussion I read.

You're welcome! and yes, I was hoping the broader topic would pique more interest.

Neither do I. Well, things like this do effect the country as a whole and need to be discussed. Thank you for bringing it to MY attention.

All the more reason why we need to know everything we can about a person before he/she is elected. (And, you know....what we know about a person should be more than what he/she shared in a book or two.)

Well, we can only know so much, but it helps when we have a history to look to.
