Mozilla Firefox...new upgrade is a problem...got any ideas?

I use Mozilla Firefox. I just 2 days ago downloaded their current update to 4.0 or whatever it was. Now for the problems. The tabs background are the same as the upper part of the screen...hard to explain..I downloaded one of FF's design features for a border. That border is green, and now the tabs background is green. and what used to be a red X to close the tab, is now a dark grey and hard to see. It is also hard to see the name on the tab when I open multiple tabs at the same time. I doesn't allow me to download some tool bars. I use this one all the time and have tried 3 times and it won't add the tool bar to the top up there. I have asked the site it belongs to for help, but that will take awhile for response. I need that tool bar! Plus...the upgrade took that green bar status bar that is alway son the lower right corner of the screen to show the status of the window - you know that green bar with the squares on it and it adds squares as it goes to wherever it is going until the status bar is full green and then flicks to that page. Now, I click a link and it appears to be just sitting there, and I dont know if hte click went through or not and tend to click again thinking I missed the click before. I do notice that on the left side of the screen, in white so it blends in with the screen backgroud, there is a little bar/box saying the URL's of where it is going or needs to go through to get there, but that flashes on so fast, I can't read them...and still the page just sits....and does eventually go to where I clicked it to go. Plus, it seems much slower now. I had FF prior and all was fine. Now I upgrade to their new version, and it slows things down. What's up with that? I have WinXP and DSL internet access. So...any suggestions on how I fix this? I mean, yeah, I could change that border bar to something else, but still...if I go any color but white, the tabs will still have hard to see. I liked FF the way it was before this upgrade, and I even tried to go back to a system restore date I did about 2 weeks ago and set things back to that, but it didn't make the FF go back to the grade it was then,,,it kept it to the new upgrade version. Any helps out there?

I immediately upgraded the first day it came out. Instantly I realized none of my add ons work with the 4 version so in a matter of 5 minutes I removed it completely and returned back to the 3.16. My check4change, cashgopher, clicxsense toolbar and my printer add ons would not work. I read over at mozilla that they are working on it so I removed it and will wait a bit. Other then that I loved it and it seem fast as lightening for me.

How did you do all that? That is what I want to do. I shouldn't have done it so quick..and waited till they had all the bugs out. i usually do that, but for some odd reason, I didn't this time. I think I thought in this case...it would be fine. But how do you delete Mozilla if that is your browser...how do you get online without it?

Gald you asked! I too am like you and usually wait for some odd reason I imedaitely downloaded the upgrade to find that it was not compatible. I have IS still on my system and I was able to remove the firefox and then go back and download the old FF version. I am dying to remove the IE but with the service pack 3 it is not allowing me to simply delete it. I have spent countless hours trying to remove the IE and with the incident of upgrading the FF I am glad I did not. I am wondering if you can download the simple IE version without all the plugs in then delete the upgrade and then remove the IE again.

If you go this route do not add the service pack 3, it is designed so that you cannot remove IE there after. Best of luck.

Have you started a new profile or did you keep the old one? If you're still using the old one maybe some config file or extension could be in conflict with this new version.

Thanks, but I just did all that before I installed the update. It all was fine then.
