JOhn Carpenter - Legendary movie director...

yeah..he's a famous director..during 80s- early 90s respected for his horror/terror and smooth special effects..in the same vein as JOhn Landis, Most famous movies of them all was THE THING,,classic till this very day.10/10 ..also some other movies like Escape from New york,Big Trouble in Little China(wait a minute..all the movies have Kurt Russell in it!) then he dissapear from movie making in the 21st century.. But hey..He's Back..with err..THE WARD,, i rushed to see this..hoping the return of the master..is big blast..but umm..if was made in 1994..it might have..;) looks dated style of movie feel.but poster promises a shocker!! and yes it did..shock me off like a girl screaming ..auwwweeerrgghh!!! gave a 6/10 just for the shock scenes in the movies lol.(6/10 too tiny for a legendary guy huh? ur rite.) But hey..he;s just warming up..after all been away from directing more than a decade.u got THE THING 2011..( a prequel to THE THING 1982) so can he deliver again..up to his usually standard but for the present time quality? The Thing his greatest ever classic..he better not ruin it with this prequel. This prequel shows how the alien UFO landed prior to the 82 version. i suggest yal check out the trailer online.. till we see it.. peace.

John Carpenter is one of my favorite horror directors. The Thing is one of my favorites of his, I don't think the new movie will be much without him, but I could be wrong and I am looking forward to it. I just wonder how much CGI they will use when the original done a great job without it. You forgot about Halloween one of his best

I am glad you did not forget about Halloween. There are many debates on which was the first true slasher film, such as Black Christmas or even Hitchcock's Psycho, but Halloween definitely introduced the concept of an unstoppable and unkillable killer which was two years before Friday the 13th. I always liked Michael Myers over Jason for some reason even though Jason has been the face (or mask lol) most associated with the slasher genre. As for The Thing I have to agree with you, it is an excellent movie. It is one I can watch over and over again and never get bored with it. I love the ending of it with MacReady and Childs out in the cold just waiting to see what happens, I always wonder which one of them was infected. That is what is great about the film the level of paranoia it creates. Maybe they should have done a sequel rather than a prequel.

yeah..man..there will be plenty of debate..but i can be 100hundred certain prior to 1960 Psycho.. most horror movies..are vampires..monsters of the deep..Ghost..etc.. only after that crazy Mr.Perkins..that movie goers..see an insane killa!! lolz..and a split personality character that one too.lol

NO..i didnt forget about Halloween..but unlike The Thing..no movie come close to its storyline of The THING..was way too good..!!! soo good.. But as for Halloween..theres plenty similar movie..such Friday the 13th etc..so many people will argue and claims that halloween is not the best in that slasher genre..SO i think THE THING is Carpenter all over it..

At first glance I thought of John Carter - the movie, not John Carpenter the director, haha!~Wasn't really into his genre of movies. To be honest I can't really recall "The Thing". But my wife was kinda into it so I downloaded the prequel but I didn't even watch it

The Thing is one of my favorite movies. I already dread seeing the prequel. The Thing itself was a remake but modern films have been so bad lately. I imagine this one being nothing but computer effects and no storyline. Carpenter is behind the prequel? My friend thought it was someone else. He is angry about the prequel. he thinks it will suck big time.

yes THE THING is a legend..classic movie.. never new it was a remake back in 82? i only know it was from a book by Stephen king(or maybe not.) Yes..the prequel THE THING 2011 will be by John Carpenreter himself..so should be fine,, THE WARD wasnt that bad either..just that its dated film making style..u know,,the one that will look cool back in 1994..but not today.. So lets hope..THE THING 2011 is good enough to sit for an hour or so..
