My cousin and her daughter visited my home this week. Her daughter is just 6 years old. I use water boiled well and then cool it for drinking. My cousin daughter refused to drink and began to cry for fresh bottled water. When I asked my cousin, she said she loves only those tasty bottled water. But bottled water though certified, I feel its not harmful than good for us.First its plastic bottles, second not sure of the purity and chemicals used to bring in the taste. I can see kids love that for taste ? Am I right?!

There is nothing wrong with plain ole' tap water! If it is being supplied to you, it's safe! I refuse to buy bottled water, it has no flouride in it! Flouride intake is essential for children, especially young children! I have better things to spend money on than bottled water, when water that is perfectly healthy comes out of my faucet! Sounds like your cousin's daughter is SPOILED!

And to add....if kids are only given boiled water from the faucet, they NEVER learn the taste of bottled water!!! So it's her Mother's fault for allowing her to have the bottled water! Not to mention, think about what all those plastic bottles are doing to our planet!

Very well worded AriannasMommy. Flouride is essential for kids. My worry starts to see these kids addicted to fashionable bottles and its the need of parents to correct them. Because kids are easily addicted to all diseases. Problem starts when parents have ignorance on guiding the kids of what is good and taste doesnot decide about a good one. Next fear are plastics, you said the what my heart says! Plastics already spoiling the planet and now these kids.

If I may just add, have you noticed any bottled water for babies that says with added fluoride in it? http://images.quickblogcast.com/8/6/7/3/5/163531-153768/HEBFluoride.jpg?a=59 Fluoride is for strengthening our teeth and is not meant to be ingested especially by babies. My cousin who is a nurse is feeding her baby with this water. She does not see anything wrong with it. Oh well, how can I complain if she thinks she knows better? As for me, I will use boiled water instead. With everything that's going on, I do not know what's safe anymore.

In my home country water from a tap is someones kitchen is safe to drink. In some places the water is safe enough to drink but it tastes unpleasant. I found that with the tap water in Los Angeles. In some of the places worldwide that I have been to the water isn't safe to drink at all. For example it could make a person very ill. Such dangerous water has to be boiled many times to get rid of the danger in it. I think that many plastic bottles fill up bins and are a problem. Better still are glass bottles that can be recycled. I believe it is what a child is used to so the little girl was used to bottled water and didn't like the idea of drinking cooled boiled water. I like pure water and not water is dangerous. I am happy to drink water from the tap when I at home. I drank cooled boiled water in Indonesia and it was fine.

Hi maximax8, It has been a long time in discussion with you. True, even my place water is safe, but its not tasty. Just worried of this little kid, so crazy on bottled water. As long as she drinks safe water, am fine with ther. So water is different in each places and thanks for mentioning them in Indonesia, los angeles. Have you been to Houston, Texas?. Am leaving there next week and worried about water there. I think they have tap water, but not sure if its good

I do the same, boil the water and cool it off to drink. I don't like the water from the sink, the bottle is fine but I prefer boiled water, my husband drinks the water from the sink and he says it is very clean but drinking the boiled water is my habit since I was small, I don't think I would change that habit and I think the sink water tastes funny.

Hi mermaidivy, nice to see you again. I am same as you. I have a habit of boiling and cooling it off. I always suspect sink water will have some dust or germs which may cause throat or stomach problems. What i feel about bottled is, plastics and they way they recycle the water or mineralise them using chemicals. Kids are mostly affected with changes in water, I hope you accept my point? I never allow my kids to drink water from outside if its not boiled!

I don't believe that bottled water is harmful to us. Fresh spring water in its natural and pure state would be of the most benefit though. A lot of processing goes into bottled water to preserve the flavor.

Hi sender621, Thats a different answer. So you believe bottled water doesnot harm us, may be because of the plastics they use?. Yes true, fresh water of nature is so pure than any thing else. I worried about the plastics and effect on the kids especially

It is all depends on how the company used to store the water and utilize it or procedure of packing to become a packaged drinking water. Of Course some times these companies will mix the chemicals so that water will get a taste so that they will get huge customers. But those chemicals are like slow poison for us. So while buying any kind of water please verify it and then buy good one and be healthier.

Hi Lou_is, what keeps bothering is, we know the fact of how the water is packed in bottles. But still people encourage it and naturally we can find our next generation getting into the trap and spoiling health. If we cant stop them now, then it is too late. You meant the exact way

Yeah I guess it has some sort of taste that is attractive to the kids. I actually do drink bottled water because I don't trust the water here, but I'd rather drink purified water from the refrigerator to be honest.

Hi friend, I honestly agree your point.True my cousin daughter said "I love bottle water becoz it is tasty, I do want it". The taste plays a tricky role here among kids and youngsters too. And my cousin defends her saying, tasty water can quench the thrust. I would say as long as its water we purify, boil and drink, thats good for any thrust. So which part of country you stay.. I am moving Houston, Texas next week, worried about water there. Do tap waters really safe in Texas. Any idea?
