What can I do??? He was doing fine for weeks, all of the sudden, he decided that he doesn't like solid food anymore, as soon as I put the spoon close to his mouth, he closes his lip tight and refuses it, but he would accept banana, apple and actually tastes it, just not veggies and rice... I don't wnat to force him to open his mouth so he hates it... what can I do?????????

It's the vege smell. You allowed him to have bananas & apples too early. Once they get accustomed to the sweet stuff they are like that. Try mixing sweet stuff with his vege. We give our son peas & corn mixed together. And like I said, they love sweet stuff. His favourite is still carrots, potato & corn all mixed together. It's alright, this is just normal as it's a time where they have learnt how to refuse but we know what's good for them. Sometimes we have Mr. Cane to help out, haha!~

Doctors will ask to start them off with one type of food at a time to monitor whether baby is allergic to any food. Both my wife & I are not allergic to any food so we just gave him everything most of the time, haha!~ But it's true that every child is different so you've gotta find you for your own!~ All the best!~

Thank you. I have been keeping an eye on him and see if he reacts anything funny to the food, he has been doing alright so far.

Oh really that is what I was thinkinga bout actually... But the pediatrician suggested me to do so... so I don't know. I only give him around noon, I don't give him before any meal time though.

While introducing him to solids did you introduce the rice & veggies first? You are to introduce those first so they do not refuse to eat them. Could you try mixing them with the fruit? Sounds gross but perhaphs the right flavor combination may hit the spot. Otherwise you'll have to just keep trying to offer him something new and if he doesn't eat it give him something he likes. Hate to say it but they start being picky earlier in life than we imagine.

I introduced him the veggies and rice first and now you remind me ofsomething, you know what I think since I started to give him apples or banana during noon time, he refuses to eat his solid meals, I think I should hold on on fuits for now and see how he will do.

Hello mermaid and good morning. Maybe your son wants to start feeding himself. i went through this with my kids. Does he grab for the spoon? If he does then he does want to feed himself. It will be messy and more food will get on the outside of him than inside but when they are ready to feed themselves they won't open their mouth for you. Give him a spoon and let him goat it. He will use hiss hands more than the spoon but that is the way with babies.

He would feed himself when I give him the teething biscuit but when he knows itis food time not fruit, he turns his face and closes his lip, that makes the feeding difficult. I have been nursing him since he was born, since I started giving him solid, I nurse him less so I'm producing less... I don't wnat him to have not enough to eat if he doesn't eat solid...

I have this issue at times with my 6 month old. I keep trying, but not forcing it on him. SOme days he will take it others he just fusses... I think he just isn't hungery for it or he just really doesn't like it. I never no for sure. But I just try again in an hour or so.

I remember going through this with my son and it was only a matter of a few days. I read some of your comments and it sounds like he just started doing this. I know that variety is good but then you won't know what he likes and doesn't. I would suggest that since he just started not wanting the food that you experiment with one kind for a couple of days if after two days the baby does not like something then you change it and try something else. Switching too often you won't know if he truly does not like something or just not in the mood to eat at the moment. I see you just took him to his pedia so I would give a few days yet and try and experiment. If he continues then definitely call and ask. Only reason why I think maybe just not as hungry the one day or so is because I am sure the pedia found the baby to be healthy. Give that a try and see if it helps.

In fact, I just fed him lunch a while ago after he naps and he at least opened his mouth and ate, that made me think maybe he is not getting enough sleep so he gets cranky? He has been getting up at night many times... and looking tired

Hi, I also had that experience, what he's pedia did, she changed the vitamins and milk. then on when we'll feed him with solid he'll just eat and never choose, he ates what we offered to him. so i think try to consult his pedia of whats the best thing to do.

Like you said you can not force him. Wait til he gets very hungry then try to give him some of what he closes his lips to. He must be desiding what he likes and doesnt like. if not wait til he is a little more hungry then just give him what he likes. Or you could mix some of what he likes with the rice. Give a bite of something he likes then sneek ina bite of something he doesnt.

OMG Mermaidivy... that is the way my eldest son behaived. Just the same. He doesn´t eat too many vegetables right now. He was been treated with extra vitamins and Iron for his blood, because he had an anaemia. I would suggest you what I did with my second son (the comment is in your other post) =) Blessings!... Dainy

Try to give him mashed squash too, it's alright if he don't want to eat solid foods because baby like his age is still good for soft food or liquefy foods. mashed potato combined with his milk is right.

I give him italian squash and he seems to be okay just the matter if he would eat it without me forcing him.
