Yea, for McDonalds!

Yes, that is right, Yea for McDonalds! Here's why...the most ridiculous thing ever.... When the state's and all come out and blame McD's for children being over weight, and the governments (at least here in Calif) made laws that Happy Meals can't contain no little toys as that is why the kids buy them (parents don't buy them for the kids you see)...for the toy and then eat the fattening food and then get fat and they have to include a fruit or vege, (like anyone wants to go to fast food for those items!). They changed a little bit, but I knew that McD's wasn't going to let "them get away with this". It all settled down for awhile. BUt I have been noticing on the TV commercials lately, that they are advertising the "Regular" kind of burger...Big Mac, 1/4er Pounder etc. a lot more that usual. Then it struck me....they can't advertise to kids, so....they found another group to advertise to...adults! I thought that pretty cool that they didn't let government dictate what they can sell based on something so stupid as them being the cause of overweight children. Granted, like all fast food, McD's is just junk food and all, and I don't eat it often, but if you eat a Big Mac once a week and use common sense the rest of the week with what you eat, that Big Mac isn't going to hurt you in the least, but they don't want you to know that! But then...this morning on the News...the ticker tape goes by saying McD's is hiring from food workers to management, something like 5,000 new employees I think it was, and it will cost them $518million for this hiring. It also said that this will improve the jobless rate by 7%. Granted it is low wages and all and low wages aren't going to fix our current finacial problem...but it helps. Anyone that works there gets more than being without an income at all and taxes are paid to the states which helps support the state...if more companies would do this, we could get out of this BK status. So yeah, I do say Yea McD's! It isn't your fault parents are to lazy to feed their kids properly, and it isn't your fault the parents don't make their kids put the hand held games and toys down and go play outside, yet you got blamed for it. And now...you are double decking them the best way ever...just showing what else is on the menu to beat them at their own game and point the focus to adults and creating jobs. I don't see any of the so-called "more healthy" companies/resturants/business doing any hiring! I don't see any "value meals" or dollar items on their menus to help get something to eat at a low price. Granted, not the best food, but if you don't have alot of money, you can't afford the "more healthy" places and if they don't lower their prices to accomodate the incomes... So, YEA McD's!!!!

I always thought that McDonald was a scapegoat for parents who didn't want to take the blame for their fat kids. I am sure all the soda and packaged crap at home had nothing to do with it. Or the lack of exercise and physical activity. Sure most McDonald's meals are a days worth of calories but they choose to go there/ McDonald's doesn't come to you r door.

OF course it is. Kids don't take themselves there, order and then pay with their own money! It was pathetic that Calif did this to McD's. Even more so...that parents actually think that is how their kid got obese...because of the food....but let's not mention WHO allowed them to have it! I think McD's is fighting back great. And no other resturant of any kind (at least that I have heard of) is creating so many new jobs and putting some income back into the economy! THat sounds pretty "healthy" to me!

I see that in many cases not just this parents place the blame every where else instead of taking on the responsibility for making mistakes in how they raise their kids. It is the same as saying that music or video games made a kid violent or kill some one or hey fat!

They are obese because their parents allow them to be obese. They are cause the parents don't give a rats than to watch what they eat. The parents are the ones doing the taking, ordering and paying. I love their 1/4lbers. And have one once or twice a month. But Iknow they are fattening and all. But..moderation is the key. I'll just eat one and then watch/compensate with the rest of the day (or so's) food! Nice just to let go and not have to think about health once and awhile! I am just glad McD's basically is just slapping the states (mostly calif) in the face and saying to them "Nanner, nanner, nanner!!!"

If you stay in US long enough you will realize that people here want to blame everyone else but themselves. Eating good or bad food is a descision one has to take and government should not dictate the choice. My kids love toys and we eat there once in a while. McD is just selling a item and it is upto consumer whether to buy the item or not. It is just like selling anything else. Kids love there playstations and burgers.. So what would parents do??? Blame the game makers and burger makers! But the parent have to take responsibility for there kids and its about time they did.

Thats right. No one has to take responsiblity for anything of their actions anymore. They just blame someone else. That is why I say kudos to McD's. Parents obviously have not concern for their kids, wonder if they will have concern for themselves. Probably not, but at least they can't blame it on McD's as they made the decision themselves. Well, honestly says they can't blame, but they will! I just think it is great they are hiring. IF they are so unhealthy , why do they eat there all the time? PRICE!!! IF these "healthy" places would lower their prices to accomodate the current economy, I bet more would eat there. But they are so high that you can't afford to take a family of 4 or more there! Toys are what brought the kids to McD's...have the healthy places give toys with their meals...seeing as that is the reason they gave for McD's getting all the "kid" business. Apparently if you entice with a toy, kids will eat the food that comes with it. So why don't they practice what they preach.

Amen! Since when is McDondals responsible for the lack of discernment a parent shows by constantly feeding them fast food? Is it a restaurants fault that going out to eat is now a constant thing and not a rare treat? That grown ups, instead of taking responsibility for themselves and their children, want to blame it on anyone but the real people at fault?

Isn't that the dumbest thing ever? But these days. no one seems to have to take responsibility for their actions. I am just glad that they are creating jobs and putting at least some people to work, granted not enough income to support a family but at least it is a start and some taxes will be going to the state to help the BK issue. What healthy resturant is doing that?!?!?!

Well, well, well... lol Finally McDonald's is on the news for something good. I think it is great that during such hardship that they are opening all these opportunities for new employment. You are right I don't see the high end places actually creating that much opportunities, so now I suppose some of the poppers will not have much to say. It is without a doubt not the kids fault for eating there, after all it is the parents supplying the money for the food. Personally I did not take my kids to McD's often but I did occasionally and they loved the toys. I don't see anything wrong with an occasional trip, the kid meals is not that much food especially if eaten in moderation. So I am with you yeah for McD's!

Moderation. At this point, I'd rather go to McD's for something that these other "healthy" places...at least McD's I can afford and it is fun and I can take my kids. Those "healthy" joints are to uppity anyway! And we won't even mention their outrageous prices!

If you eat McDonald's OCCASIONALLY, it won't make you fat. It's the people that bring their children there multiple times a week that have the issues. You can eat almost anything in moderation. So, you're right, it's not McDonald's fault.. it's the parents.

Exactly. Plus...it isn't the kids that are doing the buying! The parents are the ones with the money! They don't drive themselves there, they don't even order for themselves...who's the boss here?!?!

I have been eating Mc Donalds since my younger days and have pass the trend to my childre. Funny Europe and US Mc donalds taste much much better and tastier from here. Mc Donalds sometimes helps me alot of saved time for preparing meals. But if only McDonalds can gives us a life time free McD meals...
