Frusterating Problem

I have 2 Pugs...one is 4 years old and the other is 10 months old. They're so cute and full of funny antics and stuck to each other like glue. The only problem is.....they eat each others poo! It is so maddening! I try to catch them in the act to scold them and I also pick up their poo immediately. However, they're getting sneaky and doing it whenever they can without me noticing. I don't know what to do anymore. Anyone else experience this problem?

This is called coprophagia, fancy name for the "consuming of fecal matter", ew. Dogs are so cute, yet they have such disgusting habits. This is actually quite common in Pugs. In the past, it was said that this was due to a vitamin/mineral deficiency in the dog's diet, but that has been proven untrue. Some dogs practice this bad habit when they are stressed. I had a german shepherd who did this when I didn't exercise her enough. To solve it, obviously I exercised her more, but I also put minced pineapple in her food. Apparently, the taste of it in their food doesn't bother them, but it makes the feces "unappealing" to them. There are products on the market for this, honestly, they don't work. Try the pineapple.

Thanks for your info! I tried adding spinach to their food...which I read worked...but it didn't with my dogs. Maybe I didn't put enough. I will try pineapple....hopefully it works. I also had an Irish Wolfhound that did this and I think he influenced my older Pug to do it....and now the older Pug is influencing the younger Pug.....it's a vicious circle lol
