Books are expensive! Any tips on how to fund or cut down on the cost of college text books? Just thought I'd ask. Kinda getting sick of spending so much on books, when tuition is expensive enough as it is. thanks.

Try buying used books. Also, ask if anyone else has taken the course and has the book that you can either borrow or buy from them. Also, go to web sites such as amazon, barnes and noble and half to buy books since they are cheaper there. My husband had looked into renting his books and rented from a company called book renter and was able to find his books there. Book renters allows you to keep the booki for 90 day then you ship it back (at their expense). It is a great way to save money.

Some of the tricks I've found over the years have really helped me cut down onm y textbook expenses. The first, and probably easiest, is to share a textbook with a classmate. It's not just a good way to cut your expense in half, but it's also a great way to find a study buddy at the same time! You should also check out the library. If you're school is anything like mine, then it will probably have over 95% of the textbooks in stock for free use. I've spent many hours in the library studying and writing my notes before or after class, and I've found that I become more motivated to study and retain information because I don't have the option of looking everything up when I'm at home. Used textbooks and e-books are also a great idea. I hope this helps!

When I was in medical school, our books were also expensive. But some students from the higher years were selling their books and I got to buy them and its cheaper than the new ones of course. There are also books found in the the pawnshop but I am not sure if its like that in your country.

I hope all went well on your first day of class. I'm a college student as well and you are right, the prices of books are a killer. But here are a few things you can do. One, search online used books like buying at amazon or ebay. Or how about renting textbooks? Ever heard of this site called chegg.com? It will save you a ton! You rent a book and at the end of the semester you return it and its out of your hands. To mention chegg is the number one textbook renter site universal. I also have a discount code, so if you are interested let me know. I'll add you and we can go from there. Good Luck!

Some colleges offer information on buying used text books. Some used text books may even be bought online if you know which ones you need. Ask your school, they may lead you in the right direction.
