What do you think is the best way to celebrate one's debut? In our place, debuts are one occasion for the debutante to showcase her talents. The party turns out into a sort of variety show wherein the debutante is made to give dances and songs (if she can sing). Sometimes, the debutante's speech is left out as it is considered boring. I'm wondering about this. Is this how you celebrate someone's debut in your place? Please share.

In the area I am from, this is not an acknowledged custom. It used to be..as an intoduction to society...but now..not so much. The closest thing that I can relate to is a 16th b-day. That is usually a big party.

yeah that normally how it is. the debutant would sing and dance. also, she changes costumes and gowns. traditionally, there is a cotillion where you have 18 roses, 18 candles and 18 gifts. But nowadays, some girls are thinking practically and are asking for favors like a new car or a trip abroad instead.

Debuts are of course focused on the debutante..so the debutante shows her talents too, dancing and singing. In my sister's debut, there was this video about her- since birth until the present, like a tribute..it was nice. The most important thing is ,being with your family and close people.
