For all of you "Amateur Detective" Fans out there,Agatha Christie's "Miss Marple" will probably bring an Image of a Mature older lady, maybe in tweeds and Pearls to mind,as portrayed by Margaret Rutherford, for example?
Not any More..Apparently,Disney is rebooting the Character with the face of..Jennifer Garner?! (Alias,Daredevil,Elektra)
As the Character was written and (so far) portrayed as a Wise, older Lady with a lifetime of experience to draw on,do you think this is a direction the character should be taking?
Thanks for the comments!

I was reading that the Christie estate had signed over the movie rights to the character way back,so there's not even anything they can do about this..
Don't they have enough young crimefighting women characters they could pick on without going for La Marple?!

Dunno if you've ever heard of the UK sitcom "Father Ted",about 3 Irish Priests on an isolated Island, but in one episode, trying a boycott on a movie with a sexy storyline might only draw more attention to it,defeating the whole purpose!

I don't know the story of the main character but I think Jennifer Garner can hit the right spots to this one. I'm still gonna do some research on this, this might be a possible Emmy nominee.

If You've never read Agatha Christie's Many books or encountered her Character,Miss Marple,The main thing you'd need to know is that She's an Older,English Lady Sleuth..You might get an idea if you pictured Angela Lansbury (Murder, She Wrote) once She'd retired to a sleepy little village, one with a body count..
It'd be like going back and redoing Columbo when he was Young, fit, and Well dressed!

I remember her doing an English accent in "Alias",but I don't think they're going to be setting her up as the mature character by having her spend a couple of hours in makeup and prosthetics first..that's what's annoying the Character's fans-They don't want a younger Actress in the role!

Oh, okay. Well, maybe they're depending on makeup to get the look out of Jennifer Garner. That's the only way I could think of that they're moving towards. Obviously, Jennifer isn't that old but I bet she could nail that english character out of Mrs. Marple.

What a shame. . .especially since there are so many wonderful older women actresses and relatively leading few roles for them. And talk about changing the entire flavor of a classic! I guess this is a movie I will not see. . .wonder what Disney was thinking? Agatha Christie a la Tomb Raider, perhaps?

On Remembering Jennifer's physical acting skills in "Alias",Daredevil" and "Elektra",I sincerely hope a "One foot in the Grave" Raider isn't to be her next challenge..
