Do you believe in Astrology?

To be honest, I do subscribe for horoscopes. Most people say it's a bunch of BS, but I'm still unsure. There do happen to be a lot of similarities when I check my and my friends' personality traits to those of our signs. What do you think? Is it just a coincidence, or what?

Hi, Having belonged to an Indian Hindu (Brahmin) family, I have been coming across details of astrology and its importance all these years. With a proper horoscope it is believed that the future of that individual(and sometimes even his/her parents') can be determined. As far as I am personally concerned, all those who have calculated my character based on my horoscope, I feel they have judged it fairly well. It cannot be called as a coincidence. It is more or less a calculation, which when properly done will give the same result to everyone, resulting in accurate forecast! It thus depends on the astrologer!

According to experts in this field, each planet has a different effect on our lives and a map of the heavens at the time of birth can reveal a lot about ones personality, interests, hobbies, etc. To read the horoscopes in a news paper don't really mean anything as someone somewhere will find it will relate to them. But to most people it is very far from what will actually happen on that day. It is amazing however, how many people will read and dismiss the daily horoscopes. Personally, I think it all comes back to the human need to have belief. That belief can be in anything or any form, but we all need that positive piece of advice and direction that may bring us luck. So, if 2 people share the same birth sign and read about the sun's influence and traits in connection with that sign, then yes, they will have the same personality, but not the same subconsciousness, mental aptitude, physical build, etc.

I believe it is an existing belief system and that some people vouch for its authenticity. However, I do not put any stock in it. Different strokes for different folks, right?

Some people fail to recognize that there is a more intellectual study of astrology than what is found in daily horoscopes in the newspapers. It is really pitiful that someone would call this study rubbish, because those people generally don't look into the actual studies. They believe it is rubbish because they only listen to what is readily available to them. Unless you have an interest in these things, you will never know what lies under the surface. Astrology has existed before even the the study of science and math existed. Some say that this makes Astrology a mythological study, while others would say that this is a reason to look further into the science of it. If you are unsure and you have a genuine interest, I suggest reading the legitimate books written about it, rather than the phony ones that are just trying to capture popular attention.
