Should you feel special when in a relationship?

Do you think that when your in a committed relationship that both partners should feel special? Should you have to work at it or should it just be there? Is it the job of your partner to make you feel like your special to them? I asked my boyfriend once why he loved me and he told me because I make him feel like he's the best person in the world (might not be the exact wording) and it made me think. He doesnt make me feel like that. So I'm curious... should it be a two way street?

Both of you should feel special and both of you should work for it. it is in how you express your love to your partner that he/she feels special even in the simplest of things.
