Getting Your Music Heard

I am recording a CD with songs I have written, what are some of the best ways to get my music heard? My songs are rock and have been compared to AC/DC, Scorpions, Rob Zombie and Nazareth... ...any ideas would be most helpful.

since your music has been compared to other songs and musicians, meaning many have heard it already. or at least some... that's a good start. try calling some radio stations, or join local contests with regards to music, (there's a lot of those in my country, hehe)well good for you, you can record your own music, while me on the othr hand is stuck with a pile of lyrics i have made. i totally have no idea how to record these.

Hi tammy27.....Thank you for the help! How do I go about finding those contests in your country? I write music easily, I do have difficulty sometimes writing lyrics.

I am going to be totally useless when it comes to answering your question. (I like chocolatechilli's youtube idea though.) I was going to ask you to keep us posted because I wanted to hear your music, but I checked your profile and saw the link. Is that you on ReverbNation? WOW! Very COOL! ROCK ON!

Thank you, LaDeBoheme! Yes that is all me in those songs on Reverbnation...I have more songs, just not uploaded. I will keep you posted....in fact I'll send you a friends request, please accept. Thank you for the awesome comment!!! That's all I want to do, take the music I hear in my mind, translate that to a CD and hopefully people can enjoy it...I just want to make people rock and have fun listening to what I can create. Fingers crossed!

All I really know of is there are some music websites you can publish and sell your music on but advertizing/getting the word out is up to you.. if I remember the name of the one a cousin in law of mine uses, I'll come back and post it! Good luck with whatever you decide to do. You can, I expect, send cd's to radio stations, whether they play a song or not I wouldn't know..

Have you tried searching for websites made for promoting music??? I know of at least one, not sure of the exact details of how you go about doing it. But my brother does as he has his own record label. If you want PM me and I can send you the links to his label and the one website I know of.

Big recording companies only choose to work with artists and bands that are already established their names. The big labels. I think what you need is a music website that caters to independent music artists like you. I know one. Have you heard of TuneFlow.com?
