One of my friends suggested that a poncho might suit my disabled son more than a coat. She said that he can't walk and so he puts much importance into moving his hands and arms. Therefore she explained a poncho would be perfect for him. I managed to find a multi colored poncho on the Internet and I bought it for my disabled son. He loves his colorful poncho. She suggested I got a backpack with a lead for my 22 month old daughter. So I tried that and it helps her walking plus keeps her safe. I am a member of a parenting site and I have tried suggestions from people in a similar situation to me. It can help to read about parents experiences with children with little or no mobility as my disabled son is in a wheelchair. It is lovely to be able to solve a problem with information that is correct gained from an on-line discussion.

Sounds like you have had some great success with tips and information you have had shared with you from online friend! I think that other people in a similar situation that have been through the same things as you can help and i posted a few discussions here on mylot around my sons problems with Autism but i can't find them now i have been looking for them in my unresolved discussions?

Though I do ask for advice from friends and sometimes do check online for answers to problems I have in life, the final call is on me. I decide which I can take...where and how I can tweak it to suit my needs and if it will work for me.

Yes that's right, sometimes it's worth trying anothre persons advice or tips but when your parent alarm goes off and you simply don't agree or think that the advice is well sourced then always trust your gut instinct.

Yes I like to look for other people's views. The internet is a greatr source of info and it helps people who do not have many firends in real life with whom to share experiences. Then it is up to you to not end up illuding yourself with some comments or worrrying too much unneccesaarily. You have to verify the validity of comments and make sure they help you not bother you or confuse you.

That's what i mwan when there is information from every source on earth available at your fingertips... opinions clash and sometimes i dont know whats the right way to go about finding the answers. I think you need to trust your mothers intuition carefully.
