Hello there my fellow my lot members. I have recently been pondering the thought of this crazy theory of the world ending in 2012. There have been so many people over time to propose the idea of the world ending but this one worries me the most. I have done some research on the ancient Mayan civilization and I found that they were a very prosperous and strong group of people. So why did there calendar all of a sudden end on that one date. I need feedback, I need closure, I need someone to share there thoughts and information with me. And please dont take this post offensive. The last thing I wwant to do is scare my mylot partners.

Well, first why don't you take a look at your own calendar. Go to the last page of it, first of all let me ask you if there is one. There is? Oh well that makes sense considering it couldn't possibly be infinite. It is the same reason the Mayan calendar ends in 2012. Next, lets look at what happened to the Mayans. They couldn't predict their own demise, I doubt they could predict the end of the world. Speaking of their demise, why is it not considered that they would have created a new calendar or added to the current one if they had not been killed off. It is pure assumption and speculation (don't forget paranoia) that the Mayans thought that the world was going to end. Besides if they really believed that why wouldn't they have just said something? The Mayans were very advanced scientifically for their time period, ask yourself why people so smart would be so vague with their doomsday prophesy.

The Mayans didn't predict the end of their world with their calendar, just as ours does today, the Mayan calendar is simply the "end" of this particular life cycle and the start of a new one. People read too much into it. Believe it or not, the Mayans didn't all disappear as they still live today, I visited them. That great culture came to an end, sure, but the people are still around..living in huts and making a living...I went there with National Geographic.

Ok i have your answer. One is because they got lazy and i know your thinking that wow this guy is stupid but that was a long time from there time 2012. Two the mayan calendar is not the end of the world but a rebirth its when the planets come together in one line and this is a symbol to them to be a rebirth. i hope this helps you out

Hi Puffinrainbows, welcome to mylot. Here's a thing, no one can really tell what's going to happen on the days to come whether be it on 2012 or beyond. I don't question whether you believe in such prophecy or not as long as you are prepared to whatever may come your way anytime. I'm not saying that I don't believe in it, in fact I do think of it sometimes but I don't want to make it a reason for whatever is happening right now around the world. Remember, each and everyone has a role in shaping their future and making things happen. I guess the movie 2012 really did affect people's thinking huh.
