I am thinking about getting a membership at the local sams club. Is paying 40 dollars a year for a membership really worth the money? Do you guys save a lot by shopping at sams? Let me know your sams shopping experiences. :)

Hello oscar. I really don't shop Sam's club because they only handle name brands and you have to buy in large quantities. I did shop there some times years ago and thought it did save some funds. I just go an email from them that they were having an spring open house for April 15 through Sunday the 17 from 11 to 6 Here's a link http://www.samsclub.com/sams/pagedetails/content.jsp?pageName=springTasteofSamsClubOpenHouse&pid.

I think it depends on where you live. Like my SIL thinks shopping for groceries at Super Wal-mart is a steal. Perhaps it is by her but by me it's usually a miss. Granted they are cheaper than the local chain on certain things but in most cases they don't beat Aldi's. Now I used to have a membership BUT I didn't like spending a $100 on groceries and still have alot more to buy elsewhere. I don't have a big budget to afford going there.

Well, there are some good advantages when being a member there, but I have found that some things you have to continue to watch the prices on as well. I have both a Sams Club and a Costco membership here, as we have both of these around us. They offered a $20 gas card when I got my Sams Club card is why I decided to rejoin there. It is good for people who like to buy in bulk for sure. Overall like others have said you need to weigh out your options to see if the price you have to pay for getting the membership would be worth it for you.

i love our sams club membership. we went like a month ago and we still have stuff. There is a lot of deals where you buy more and it is less per item then in the store. I love getting meat there. We bought a huge pack of pork chops that i separated into four bags when we got home. So there is four meals for our family of 5. I did the same thing with steaks, chicken and italian sausage. I think it's worth it. I wish ours was a little closer to our house though.

It really depends on your shopping style and what you buy. we buy a LOT of cat litter (for some strange reason) and we more than triple our savings by buying our litter at Sams than at another store.

I don't belong to Sams club but then again I am by myself so it wouldn't be worth it...however..my sister and her friends belong and they say it's well worth it! She likes buying things in big quanity and so it really works for her!

we have something similar here in canada called costco and we can split the membership which we have done with my inlaws (which they paid for). we go there about once a month but i dont think the prices per unit is that great mosr of the time.

I have a Sam's Club membership and I think it does save money. Really you should go to their site and look for a store that is near you and start comparing prices there. I buy several things in bulk for our family. We are a family of 4 adults, 2 teenagers and 1 toddler. In the past I have bought pasta, flour, sugar, rice, tuna, peanut butter, spices, cooking oil, cooking spray, baking supplies, chocolate chips, yeast, baking soda, baking powder all in bulk and it is cheaper for me. I know that several people who use coupons at stores where they can get double off of the coupons disagree with this but I do not live around any stores that offer the double and triple off of coupons so Sam's is a good deal for me. I normally try to shop there every 3 months. I also split the cost of the yearly membership with my cousin who also gets a card on my account. This works out to our advantage!
