For something like that if it's your memory slot that has been ruined then as far as I know you would have to go for a new motherboard. However, if you currently have RAM in some slots and the slot that is damaged is spare then you may still be able to use your pc. Is your computer beyond use at present as a result of this problem? If so then it's a definite case of changing the motherboard. Good luck. Andrew

Well most motherbaord comes with two slots where you can insert your ram
as you said you ram slot and ram chip has been messed up try the other slot first if that does not work try a different ram
if you motherboard is in warranty then take it to the service center and get it repaired

if i understand fully, your ram chip is busted so does your ram slot? if so then you are a little bit screwed unless you have another ram slot ( which most motherboards do)
Ram slots can be bought and placed but I don't have a knowledge of this one and i suggest contacting an expert.

Hi stylewaves
Well, it depends on a few things - the model of the motherboard, the desktop or the laptop.
I would suggest that you take it to a place where they do the repairs of the Motherboards. They can advise you better. I think in most cases, if you find a good technician, s/he can change the RAM Slot. Otherwise, better go for a new Motherboard (which also means maybe more features)
