It seems that the last time the government shut down President Clinton had no trouble making sure the Military got paid. Now President Obama has deemed that the Military should continue to work but would not get paid until the budget issue is solved. http://www.armytimes.com/news/2011/03/military-contingency-plan-government-shutdown-031111w/ It seems there is an Office of Management and Budget (OMB) that states that in a Government Shutdown the military would continue to receive their pay. President Obama over turned that directive and stated that if the government shut down the military would not get paid. http://biggovernment.com/mikeflynn/2011/04/07/obama-ill-shut-down-the-government-and-suspend-military-pay/ What kind of a man would ask the troops he commands to fight and die without pay so he could hold them hostage to save a few programs? For a man who has taken an oath to uphold the Constitution is ignoring one of his constitutional duties to me this is not just wrong but it is immoral. What will this man do next to save his agenda?

The biggest question here is will the voters remember? When it is our turn to tell them what we think, will we remember? It is instances like this that make me wonder how he even got elected. Talk about playing politics with somebody's life.

I am contacting my congressman and asking him to sponsor a bill to pay the Military in the event of a Government shutdown. I for one will not forget and plan to make it an issue when I contact my representatives. In 2012 this will be one more think in the column of why not to vote for Democrats and some Republicans.

The GOP msde sure this didn't happen and made sure that military pay would continue regardless. The Dems on the other hand worked hard to protect NPR and Planned Parenthood. Anyone curious about their respective priorities can certainly discern them from the debates over the budget. Obama probably hoped that if the military didn't get paid, that the GOP would get the blame for the shutdown and opinion would go his way. I don't think that's going to happen.

I think the Republicans blinked first and should have walked away and said when you will consider the $100 Billion in cuts call us. Then told the people that the Democrats wanted to fund Public Radio and TV and Planned Parenthood and were willing to with hold the pay of the Military to do that. Then go to the House and pass a bill saying that the Military gets paid during the shutdown and force the Senate and President to veto it. At this point I think the Military is held in higher regard that the Democrats or any elected official. Even now the Republicans should pass such a bill and make the Democrats live with the results if they veto it. IO think they will blink very fast.

It's interesting that Obama made of point of making sure the troops wouldn't get paid in a government shutdown, but also took steps to make sure Planned Parenthood funding will be including in the next budget. Abortion is more important to him than our troops. Pretty pathetic for the Commander in Chief.

How can the military have any respect for this man after he is willing to sell them down the river. How can one man be so arrogant to think that he can play with the lives of people like that. You put men under pressure by being half way around the world with a family back home trying to cope then put the pressure on them that there won't be money to take care of their families. Both of my sons are in the military and I know that one has a family and is doing alright, but if you suddenly stopped his pay his family would be in difficult shape financially because they would have to scramble to find the money to pay the bills. These men and women have volunteered to serve their country and this is how they are treated.

It would serve that sorry SOB right if the Joint Cheifs issued an arrest warrant and frog-marched his sorry @ss straight to Gitmo for his treasonous and unconstitutional actions. What a way to stab our military in the back!... They should return the favor post haste....

I wish the news media would do their job and report things like this. The problem is that they also hate the military. As a nation we are blessed with a military that is loyal to a principal and not to a person. They will do their duty because they gave their word and they are true to their word not like some people.

I know the members of United States military that has questioned Obama's citizenship has been treated with great disrespect by some people.Obama doing unspeakable things like this only leads back to the question is Barack Obama a citizen of our country.Obama seems to have contempt against the people of the United States, our Constitution and our military.
