Television news interviews - what is with the filming style?

Do you ever think it's weird when news broadcasters film the interviewee doing things he or she would normally do, like walking on the sidewalk or playing with a pet? It's like they are stalking the person while he or she walks outside. Obviously they probably ask the person permission to film them, but when I watch the news it just looks silly in my opinion.

hi,
here in my country,as long as you interview because they just ask you something they are more want it because its an exposure. but if they interview a person because he/she did bad something or disobey some rules,of course they dont want to be interviewed and show in the television.
