Jesus, God & Man

A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic – on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg – or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God; or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.--C.S. Lewis Despite our efforts to keep him out, God intrudes. The life of Jesus is bracketed by two impossibilities: "a virgin's womb and an empty tomb". Jesus entered our world through a door marked,"No Entrance" and left through a door marked "No Exit." --Peter Larson Genesis 22:7-8 And Isaac spoke unto Abraham his father, and said, My Father; and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? And Abraham siad, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offerning: so they went both of them together. John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear o Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD. Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the LORD himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (Which is interpreted; God with us). In the gospel of Mark when questioned by the high priest as to whether He is Messiah, the Son of the Blessed, Jesus answered, I AM: and you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, coming in the clouds of heaven. The high priest then rent his robes as he believed Jesus had blashphemed God. see also John 8: 58-59 Before Abraham was, I AM. God reveals His name to Moses; Exodus 3:14 Tell them that I AM THAT I AM sent you. During His earthly sojourn He forgave sin, John 23:34, Mark 2:10 He raised the dead, Mark 5:39 He commanded the deamons to depart. Mark 5:13 He proclaimed Himself LORD of the Sabbath. Mark 2:28 He commanded the sea to be still. Mark 4:39 He healed the sick. Mark 525-34 He accepted worship. John 20:28 He conquered death by rising on the third day from the tomb. Luke 24:1-7 Yet He hungered, thirsted and grew tired as a man would. He had to resist temptation in the desert. He prayed for the cup to pass from Him when facing death. He was fully God, and fully man. You must either accept Him as HE presented Himself or deny Him entirely. You cannot remain neutral about Jesus Christ. He said if you are not for Him, you are against Him. He claimed to be the Way, the Truth and the Light. The only way to God. What say you about Jesus Christ?

It is good to love God and Jesus. The Holy Spirit of God as well. Mary was indeed blessed among all women. Luke 1:28 But she was also a woman in need of a Savior, the same as you and I. Luke 1:46-47 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the LORD, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. Remember her as blessed of God. A woman chosen of God. Her obedience is to be commended, but be careful that you do not worship her. God alone is worthy of our worship.

dainy1313, I was raised a Catholic. I went to school for six years to a Catholic school. I was taught to revere Mary. I have great respect for her still. But she is a human being like us. She herself named God as her Savior. Please do not be offended, as I have great love for those in the Catholic church. My own brother carries the statue of Maryin parades to honor her and has gone overseas to do so. But sweetie, Mary cannot hear your prayers. Jesus taught us in the Lord's Prayer, that our prayers are to be directed to God, in Jesus name. Mary is blessed of God among women, she is to be respected. She can be held up as a role model for women today. But not prayed to or worshiped. I hope you take my words without offense. I mean none.

I'm still waking up to my personal revelation & awakening to Lord Jesus Christ, for years I was like many on Mylot mocking the holy & Godly folk, now I pray for forgiveness. I still have a very long journey ahead of me, a lot of questions but you only have to look at the world to see that something is very wrong. It is very cruel, ugly, selfish & greedy, people hate & blame God for everything even though they have been warned endless times. I'm very tired & stressed through looking after my mother as she is disabled, she is a hardened athiest & blames God for her ailments, even though she spent her life neglecting her body & eating junk food etc. Trying to explain to people that are so set in their minds is extremely difficult & I am amazed at your patience & strength at dealing with these people so eloquently & articulated.

Jay, we've talked via messages and you know that I am praying for you and your mother. I want you to know I appreciate your encouragement here as well. Two things to remember; For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes on Him shall be saved. and; there but for the grace of God, go I. We all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. We're all in the same boat. Some of us have a paddle and others don't. Share your paddle. It's that easy.

I say that my life was empty before I truly understood who Jesus is. I went through so many years without Him and my life was pointless--I had ambitions, I had love but there was no ultimate purpose to it. Once I let Him in my life had meaning and purpose. Jesus is my rock. No, I don't go running to Him every time something bad happens to me but He gives me strength to deal with life. It's not just knowing that there is something waiting after this life on earth, that's not why I love Him so much. He loves me as His own child. Sometimes, in my worst hours of sorrow as when I recently lost my mother, I can feel His arm around me. Jesus is real and He makes every moment of life--the pain, the sorrow, the hurt, the joy--worthwhile. I look forward to the day when I can move from this life to the next because I will finally be able to meet Him and tell Him what joy he brought to me.

The purpose of man is to glorify God! and what you say here glorifies HIM. Praise Him when you are on the mountain top, praise Him when you are in the valley, but above all Praise Him!

i used to not believe him. but when great trials happened in my life i realized there really is a God who cares for all of us no matter what. since the day i told that to myself, everything went back to their place. my dad and i became ok again, and my family accepted all my flaws... although im not really a church girl, i dont go there much, i never forget to pray and to simply thanks him for everything small or great.

I find it interesting that some people, myself included, return to God when they are faced with heartache, trouble and struggles. I am glad that you have. May I make a suggestion? As well as prayer, study the Word of God and He will bless you even further.

In regard to your quote of C.S. Lewis, that is a very ignorant quote for you to have included. I myself am an atheist and due to there being lack of proof of Jesus being the son of god, his studies (in my opinion) are purely human philosophy. How can you think that me saying he is a great human teacher is patronizing nonsense? He teaches about morals, customs, and traditions that people, not just of Christian origin, follow today. I mean no offense to you or your religion, but you are ignorant if you agree with C.S. Lewis' quote in the way that I have stated above.

Read the scriptures that I posted. What Jesus said about HIMSELF is what I and Mr. Lewis base those words on. YOU many not believe that Jesus was God, but JESUS knew who HE was and said so. I mean no offense either, but you need to educate yourself on the reasons for BELIEFS before you discard them and call people ignorant who have educated themselves on those beliefs.

—Synonyms 1. uninstructed, untutored, untaught. Ignorant, illiterate, unlettered, uneducated mean lacking in knowledge or in training. Ignorant may mean knowing little or nothing, or it may mean uninformed about a particular subject: An ignorant person can be dangerous. I confess I'm ignorant of mathematics. Illiterate originally meant lacking a knowledge of literature or similar learning, but is most often applied now to one unable to read or write: necessary training for illiterate soldiers. Unlettered emphasizes the idea of being without knowledge of literature: unlettered though highly trained in science. Uneducated refers especially to lack of schooling or to lack of access to a body of knowledge equivalent to that learned in schools: uneducated but highly intelligent. 2. unenlightened. Calling me ignorant means you think I am uninstructed, uneducated..etc. I've read and studied the claims of Jesus Christ in the original languages and I've made it a point to find out just what He claimed about Himself. I am not the ignorant one here, and neither is Mr. Lewis as he had done the same thing before he became a Christian, a follower of Jesus. If you choose not to do those things, you then are the one who is uneducated on the subject of what and who Jesus is. You have that right. You can remain uneducated all your life if you so desire. But don't attempt to make me feel as if I am the one who knows nothing when it is yourself who chooses to remain ignorant.
