I am a desktop person. I like to pick my specs. Well, since I stopped for 2 years, I am catching up with new specs now. I feel desktops are easy to customize and update, whereas laptops are not. All of my coworkers, I mean all of them, are laptop people. And I see their point, too. It has been months since I started looking up into specs, and now I am confused. Taking brands off the computation, it seems like more laptops nowadays are also cheaper than a customized desktop.

I agree! I'm also a desktop person and I like the fact that you can upgrade desktops easily. Laptops are limited in terms of their upgrade potential. Laptops are very delicate as well and can cause major problems if extreme care is not taken, small parts can be broken easily. I will always choose a desktop over a laptop and it's my hope that desktops will remain on the market forever and will not disappear due to changing technologies. Andrew

its really simple. If you're limited on space, like moving around with your computer or do a lot of traveling and like to be on the computer all the time, then a laptop is for you. If you're just going to be using it in one place then go for a desktop. As you say, the prices of laptops have come down so much that price or durability isnt a huge factor. Keep a laptop in good condition and you can sell it on ebay in 3 years for around half the cost of your next laptop.
